I (think) I had a period on the 28th April... But today on only cycle day 20 took a pg test (or three!) and it said 2-3 weeks.... Anyone around to help me out? I'm a bit confused :)

Umm, I feel a bit thick - did you perhaps just not actually have a period when you thought you had? How long are your cycles normally?

Moominsummermadness · 17/05/2012 18:50

How long are your cycles? Was it a normal period? It's possible to have a light bleed resembling a period when you are actually pregnant. i had this happen to me twice. if you are only on day 20, a it's very unlikely that there would be enough hcg to show 2-3 weeks. maybe when you thought you were having a period, yout were actually ovulating? in any case, add 2 weeks to weeks on the digi test, which makes you 4-5 weeks pregnant. hope any of that made sense!

It's counted from your last period date, not the date of conception. So that sounds right.

I got my BFP on cd20 - I have short cycles (22-25 days) so wasn't unexpected. I ovulated on cd10. Have always got pregnant on days 8-10 of my cycle.

My cycle is a bit ll over the place, anywhere from 26 to 32 days, with periods lasting from 3 to 8 days...

It was quite heavy bleeding for a day, then light for 3.

I took another test which also says 2-3, in case it's a mistake?

You're counted as 4 weeks pregnant on the day of your missed period - so technically 2 weeks pregnant on the day of conception - does that help?

curiousgeorgie · 17/05/2012 19:15

I know that, I was more confused about getting a 2-3 weeks on only cycle day 20?

Has anyone else had this and thought they would barely even get a 1-2?

When was your period before the one you've just had? If it helps at all, i had a period on 14th Dec, then what i thought was another on 2nd Jan for about 6 days. on 13th Jan i had a gynae scan, and there were changes present that showed i was pregnant. dating scan later showed i would have been 4 weeks + 2 days on what i originally thought was cycle day 12! Had conceived on Dec 29th. At that early scan, there was bleeding coming from my ovary .congrats, btw.

I don't think you can get a 1-2, as week 1 is your last period & 2 weeks is around ovulation. Am guessing that the level of HCG detected by the test is low, as you'd expect at that stage. This is why I'm not a fan of digital tests - more of a 1st response girl myself!

Moominsummermadness · 17/05/2012 19:33

Digital tests show the time since conception, cheese, so 2-3 weeks means 4-5 weeks since last period usually. not that I'm a fan either, think they can cause more worry than a simple hpt!

curiousgeorgie · 17/05/2012 19:35

I took a first response as well and the two lines came up in less than a minute :)

The 'Pregnant' came up straight away and the '2-3' about a minute later...

My last period before that one was 1st April... Do you think I could have been pregnant since then??

I would say yes, given that your period cycles are irregular. you probably ovulated late.

DizzyKipper · 17/05/2012 19:48

It seems to me that you just didn't have a period when you thought you had, perhaps it was just implantation bleeding? That'd make the 2-3 weeks pregnant coming up on the digital tests about right in that case. Congratulations btw Grin

You can get a 1-2 on a Clearblue digital test...I have a photo of mine here which shows 1-2.
