My first scan (for my first pregnancy) will be at 19 weeks. I thought it should be at 12 weeks?

Mbb, I think mine was at 16 weeks. I think it depends where you live because I believe some people have one at 12 then one at 20 weeks.

Mbb, where I live the first scan is also at 20 weeks. This was too long for me so both times I paid to have a private scan earlier.

In Scotland (or at least in the Greater Glasgow area), we only get the one scan at 12 or so weeks. They only scan again if there are any concerns.

Just goes to show how much it varies around the UK!

I'm going private and I have had a scan at 9 weeks and I am going to have another one at 18 weeks. If they can't tell the sex then I'll wait and have another scan a few weeks after again. The good thing about private scans is that here you can just walk in and ask for a scan any time you feel like it. It's 30 quid a pop where I live
