Hello

After suffering a miscarriage at 6weeks in March , I was delighted to get a positive pregnancy test last week! I haven't gone to the doctor yet as reckon it is too early but just wondered if anyone else has had a positive result this week? I am so excited but nervous too as worried about miscarrying again but hoping and praying that this time it will be okay. I am also an insulin controlled diabetic so whilst my control is good, I am mindful of all the things that can go wrong - sometimes I think knowledge isn't power and ignorance may be better on my nerves!

Anyway - if anyone else has discovered they are pregnant this month and its their first time too, I would love to hear from you!!

xx

Hello newbie, I am also pregnant with my first due in January! So excited! Got my BFP on Thursday - on the first cycle we started trying so I am quite surprised it happened so quickly. Am also quite worried something will go wrong, especially as very early days, but am staying positive and hoping it is meant to be.
xx

Oh congratulations! I got my positive on Friday last week! It was our first month of trying too - keeping everything crossed for both of us! x

Good Afternoon Ladies!!

Congrats to everyone! I got my bfp on the last day of April but am due 10th January.

I'll be six weeks on Thursday and have a doctors appointment for that morning. Had an mc in January so I'm also worried about things going wrong. Have completely different symptoms this time but I'm taking that as a good sign. Smile

The only nausea I've had was in the 2 days before telling my head teacher - 2 others in the department (of only 4...) are also pregnant and going off in September. We are the biology department so clearly we know what we're doing!!!! Grin

hi happyhow,

congratulations and sending you positive thoughts for this pregnancy - I know how you feel but hopefully this time will be fine :)

love how 2 of you in the biology dept are also pregnant - you will be popular with the HT, hee hee!

CassieO · 14/05/2012 19:54

Hi Ladies,
First timer. Due in December. 10 weeks this week and stressing out something will go wrong. Have been pretty calm until last week. Have not had any problems so far and only a little bit of sickness. Also bursting to tell everyone but trying to keep it quite until the first scan.

vinobaroness · 14/05/2012 21:59

Hi newbie-I;m due in January too its also my first pregnancy. Maybe speak to your doctor about baby aspirin-it is supposed to help with miscarraige by keeping the blood flowing to the uterus x

newbie6 · 15/05/2012 14:51

congrats all - will pop onto the antenatal thread also - thanks BuntyCollocks!

Thanks also to vinobaroness (love your name:) ) will def ask my doc about baby aspirin

Anyone else got any symptoms yet? My boobs are bigger and sore, I am looking generally fatter already Blush and I've had a lot of cramping. This evening I've started feeling sick and have a headache. Had a busy day with work so hopefully relaxing in front of the tv will help! Hope everyone else is doing well.

happyhow · 15/05/2012 22:19

My boobs have been sore since around ovulation but they are just like pms, no worse. Haven't got any bigger but I'm quite thankful for that - I'm a GG as it is!!!!
I'm just starting to feel tired really and have the dreaded pregnancy constipation! Apricots are at the ready!!!! Have had a couple of headaches but so far that's it. Smile

We'll see what happens in the next few weeks though....

My head of department accidentally let slip about me to a colleague today so I've been incredibly pissed off Angry, upset Sad and shattered since 11am. She's feeling incredibly guilty about it now and as she's 21 weeks gone at the mo, there was a certain amount of 'baby brain' involved but it's still not much of an excuse. Anyone else had any awkward moments do far/ symptoms? Xx

BigFairy · 16/05/2012 12:19

That's annoying your HoD let it slip.

I made an apple and prune crumble for dessert this week to avoid the constipation. So far so good Grin

LetThereBeCupcakes · 16/05/2012 13:58

Hi everybody! I found out yesterday that I?m four weeks gone with my first, so due mid-January. I?m alternating between being stupidly excited and being worried that I?m imagining everything! But both tests gave me BFPs so I guess it?s pretty likely I am up-duffed. :)
No symptoms as yet, except that I?m weeing for England at the moment! Oh, and DH is being very attentive, which is incredibly out of character! Bless him.
How early have people told their bosses? I was planning on waiting until after my first scan but rang the midwife this morning and she has booked me in for my first appointment, and says I will have a second before the scan! That?s a total of three hospital appointments I?ll need to try to explain. My boss is very sweet and will probably be a bit worried, so not sure how to handle that really.
Hopefully I?ll see you all on the January anti-natal thread.

happyhow · 16/05/2012 16:00

Hi cupcakes - congratulations!!

My HoD arrived with a massive bunch of flowers for me today and has been so apologetic! I felt bad for her actually as she hadn't realised she'd said anything. The person she told is within our department so it wasn't a horrendous slip but it was bad enough!

I told my boss at 5 + 1 but that was about two weeks earlier than planned. I felt I had to tell her as two of my department are also pregnant and the interviews for their cover were today which was earlier than expected. They are both part time so I didn't think it was fair for the head teacher not to know my situation as it meant she could be thinking about the possibility of timetables after Christmas and whether these people could be offered more hours later.

It's really up to you when you think you should tell them. I think the maternity policy here states you have to tell them by 14 weeks if not before but not sure if that's our policy or if it's legal thing. Xx

octanegirl · 16/05/2012 16:44

Me....

Ladybythebeach · 16/05/2012 17:19

Hello ladies, congratulations to all.

newbie6 thanks for starting the thread.

I got my first BFP on 1st May and think I'm about 7 weeks and due in January.
Nausea has kicked in last few days and am finding I have to constantly nibble on crackers to keep it at bay which is making me feel fat already!

At the moment only DH and best friend know....we're keeping it quiet for a while as still shocked. Dreading telling my head teacher - know she will be fuming.

Look forward to reading this thread. x

PicklesisScared · 17/05/2012 13:08

I'm off for my dd scan today and am terrified!! Think it makes it so
Real

roratone · 18/05/2012 14:42

I'm 5+4 with 1st due 14th Jan.
I've not told work yet but think I should soon as I work in a 24 hour Mental Health Crisis Team.

Mum & Sister know so far and they're thrilled! It doesn't seem real yet...apart from Nausea. Like ladybythebeach, I've turned into a mega snacker. Ginger not working- it burns my lips!

theboutiquemummy · 18/05/2012 15:31

I'm a first timer EDD 20th Jan 2013 and only DH knows and he's being lovely at the moment.

PicklesisScared · 18/05/2012 18:54

Hi ladies, I thought I was due late dec 2012 so joined your thread. Had a proper dd scan yesterday and my monkey is actually 21 weeks today not 9!!! Whoopsie. There he/she was waving at me, so looks like I'm leaving ur thread Sad x
