OC in subsequent pregnancies

I was diagnosed with oc at the end of my first pregnancy. They actually picked up on my abnormal LFT before bile acids began to rise and monitored me carefully from 37 weeks. My ALT was over 600 and bile acids began to spike so urso and induction appointment booked. I went into labour beforehand though.

I'm pregnant again and just wondered what to expect in terms of bloodtests/ extra monitoring.

Thanks

Hi,

I had OC with with first - diagnosed at 37 wks because of itching and was induced just before 38wks.

Im pregnant again too and they don't seem too bothered for the moment. I have my 20wks scan this week and will see a consultant about the OC afterwards but I don't know what to expect - just a chat or full blood test.

Sorry, not terribly helpful...

Two of my friends had OC in their first pregnancies and were induced between 38 & 39 weeks when they symptoms developed. Both of them have gone on to have second children. In their second pregnancies, they both had blood tests on a weekly basis from 30 weeks. One of them developed OC from 34 weeks, had the drugs (can't remember what they're called) and was induced at 37+4. The other never developed OC in her second pregnancy and went into labour naturally at 40+6.

Thanks, I had an appointment with a Dutch midwife who didn't seem very impressed with the idea of oc, apparently "pregnancy is not a disease". Moving back to the UK soon, I'll be 14 weeks, and just wondered if it was taken a bit more seriously in the UK.
