Group B strep?

is this common test in the UK? I can't remember if I had it or not with my first, but will be 36+4 at my next midwife appt and wondered if I will be having it.
Or does it depend on other factors?
Cheers!

I don't think it is a routine test, but I don't know for sure.

Mine was picked up after a routine urine test at 28 weeks showed I probably had a UTI, so they sent the sample off and it came back that I had Group B strep.

Obviously a lot of people carry group B strep, but they only seem to be concerned if it is active, like I had in my urine.

www.gbss.org.uk will give you all the info you need re getting a private test done as it is not routine and the nhs ones are not reliable.

I have had UTI's this pg, so probably will need to test. Does anyone know how long it takes for results?
Thx.

Takes just a couple of days for results alligatorpie, I have had strep b with dc2 and have had it this preg too, got antibiotics to clear it up. ATM I am suffering badly with severe cystitis so will want checked again for Strep b when I'm better
