blisters from morning sickness

does anyone else suffer from this & if so any helpful suggestions? My morning sickness has been fairly horrid (but not as horrid as hyperemesis so shouldn't grumble too much). As a result I keep getting blisters inside my mouth & at the back of my throat, & all of my oesophagus (sp???) feels raw and painful, just from being sick all the livelong day & night... It's bad today 'cos I was sick literally all of last night . Has anyone else had this and does anyone have any suggestions? I'm 25 + 2 wks. Thank you!

How awful for you. All I can think of is one ofthose antispetic mouthwashes. I've found corsodyl (sp?) good for mouth blisters of one sort and another...

becster, I had no idea you were bad again. Poor you. Try and keep as rehydrated as possible, drink lots of water when you're being sick as it will dilute the acids and make it come up quicker so you shouldn't get so much blood. Also, suck ice cubes when you can to keep the mouth moist. The blisters are probably a symptom of you being run down too which would be no surprise given your experiences.

Do consider finishing work a bit earlier than you had planned. My sickness got so much better when I gave up, as so much of it is caused by tiredness (crazy given that you are trying to sleep at night when you are sick!). Any GP will sign you off on the sick from now until you have the baby and it will make the sickness a lot better.

You could ask a chemist about the blisters, or go to your GP which you really should do if you are being sick this much, you say its not hyperemesis, but it certainly sounds like it poor you. I wouldnt have been able to manage an anticeptic mouthwash without it making me sick but it might work really well for you.

My boss has given me the day off tomorrow so I'm going to stay in bed until Monday - that should definitely help! I do try to take a multivit but it's really hard to keep it down so maybe I'm missing a few minerals. I feel so guilty when I don't take it, but sometimes I just can't face it. (bad mother guilt already, and baby not even born yet!) I didn't think it was HG 'cos I looked after my sister when she had HG, and she was waaaay worse than I am. Mind you I think she had a particularly bad case - she nearly died of a ruptured oesophagus and was still in hospital on a drip & being sick a week after her DD was born. Poor lamb, breaks my heart just to remember how ill she was. I was so worried about her. I have days when I'm not so bad - most days I'm just sick a couple of times at 4am/5am and just nauseous the rest of the time. But every now & then I have a day like today (sick every hour or so since 2am... bleargh!) And it starts to feel like it's all a bit much - am starting to get a bit teary now, just 'cos I'm so tired... Will definitely try the ice cubes, thanks hockeymum. And will have another talk with my GP... if I can get an appointment with him this side of my due date (hmmph!)

Becster, hyperemesis is on a scale. Your sister had life threatening hyperemesis gravida by the sound of it, but you have certainly got hyperemesis from your descriptions. Do make an appointment with the GP and get rest, lots and lots of rest! Well done at keeping your chin up so well

I had the same thing happen to me, but thankfully have stopped being sick now. Apparently the blisters are due to acid coming up from your stomach - my GP prescribed me anti-sickness tablets (which I didn't take) but GAVISCON liquid as well to neutralise the acid in my stomach so when I was sick the acid wasn't affecting the lining of my mouth.
