How Pregnant am I?

Hi all....

POAS a couple of weeks ago after missing period, feeling sick and having unusual food cravings... BFP :)

I immediately logged on to the NHS website and put the first day of my last period into their due date calculator which gave me a due date of 17th December and put me at 7 weeks pg.

Im currently living in France and had my first gyno appt on friday. After an internal scan he told me I am 5 weeks pg based on the date of conception being 4th April or there abouts....

So how pregnant am I? The blob baby on the scan measured 12mm.

Also... If anyone has any info/advice/opinions on the French system they would be appreciated... Its my first pg and its all a bit overwhelming!!

Because due dates & therefore pregnancy is calculated using your last period, the dates technically out you at roughly 2wks more pg than you are iyswim i.e. you are 7wks pg but its only 5wks since conception.

Therefore you have a date of 7wks pg, 5wks gestation!!

Early scans are often way out! I had one with ds2, put him at about 5 weeks when it was 7, honestly 12mm is roughly 6 weeks anyway according to my book.

Don't worry
You will get a far better idea from the next scan.
It also depends when you ovulated/had sex/ etc etc/ So the more info you can write down, the better chance we have at estimating.

My early scan put me a week less pregnant than my last menstrual period date. My 12 week scan made me a week more pregnant.

I take the dates with a hefty pinch of salt anyway. I think in France you are full term at 42, when it's 40 here. So it's just a medical model anyway. I don't think the babies know they're to be different depending on whether they're in France or the UK
