Hi all

My mum is getting married and told me yesterday that her hen do will be fancy dress, I'll be about 6 and a half months by then, any ideas what the heck I can wear?

I would rather not do it tbh, is bad enough finding a normal outfit to go out in but am also chief bridesmaid (yep, big fat pregnant one!) :)

The theme is S or D. Do I go homemade? As pretty sure you can't buy maternity fancy dress? Help!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I had a friend who used a cardboard box to make an oven to go over her bump. Bun on the oven. Does not go with theme though, so not hugely helpful

Sigourney Weaver in Alien. Grey sweats and a paper mâché alien busting from your bump!

Cheap, comfy and VERy funny!

GnocchiNineDoors · 13/05/2012 11:33

Could you go as a Doctor? Big white doctors coat worn over your bump and a bunch of stethescopes etc hanging in front to 'mask' the bump?

OR....blue comfy pyjamas, slippers covered with carrier bags, cotton mask over your mouth....Surgeon? Nice and comfy Grin

Slug - Grey leggings and top, sparkly cardi, deely bopper eyes...

Dog - brown or white trousers and top, ears or mask that you have to take off when you get your first drink

Good luck!

Oooh, some good ideas there, thanks. Purple, loving the slug one, might go one step further and be a snail!

I am loving Sigourney Weaver or a snail. Doing something with the bump would be brilliant Grin

mrsbugsywugsy · 13/05/2012 11:45

virgin mary?

mrsbugsywugsy · 13/05/2012 11:47

oh sorry missed that the theme was s or d. will put my thinking cap back on!

PurplePidjin · 13/05/2012 11:49

Snail would be good but require far more effort with cardboard boxes and sticky back plastic Wink

WifiNappies · 13/05/2012 11:49

What's s or d?

WifiNappies · 13/05/2012 11:51

Never mind just got it! Blush

AliceHurled · 13/05/2012 11:54

I missed that. What is S or D?

Newtothisstuff · 13/05/2012 12:47

Get yourself a pink tracksuit top some
Massive earrings and go as Vicky Pollard

mrsbugsywugsy · 13/05/2012 12:47

presumably the costume has to start with an S or a D. Hence Snails and Doctors

PurplePidjin · 13/05/2012 12:52

Tack green crepe paper circles to a normal top that fits and go as a Salad?

mrsbugsywugsy · 13/05/2012 13:00

OK...

Santa (round belly a bonus)
Super mum (put the big S on your bump)
Domestic goddess (pinny, feather duster)
Dolly parton (if you've got good pregnancy cleavage)

I think I like Sigourney Weaver best though

Whitershadeofpale · 13/05/2012 13:08

Spacehopper! Grin orange leggings and top and make some antennae to attach to a hairband.

mrswee · 13/05/2012 14:01

My friend did the Sigourney Weaver one at a halloween party, it went down really well!

DaisyMaisyJessicaEmily · 13/05/2012 14:04

Space hopper is inspired!

D ---- a duck? You'll have the waddle downpat by then Grin

confusedpixie · 13/05/2012 14:08

Sigourney Weaver or the Spacehopper have to be done Grin

mrsbugsywugsy · 13/05/2012 15:04

Spacehopper is great!

BikeRunSki · 13/05/2012 15:11
