Hi. Im new to fireman am 15 weeks tomorrow. This morning I woke up at 5 with horrendous sickness and diarrhoea and haven't even been able to stomach water since. chemist said to take 1 sachet of dioralyte, which am currently sipping, but am worried cos Im now just bringing up bile (sorry tmi), and haven't eaten at all today. Will baby be aright?

Hi

I'm just recovering from nasty D&V. I'm only 7 weeks pregnant, but the doctor said not to worry about not eating for a day or two and the baby would be fine.

Don't know if it's any different at 15 weeks. But try not to worry! Just concentrate on resting and getting better - I'm sure that's the best thing you can do :)

I had stomach flu at about 7mths and couldn't stomach anything at first, not even water. The GP phoned back & prescribed dioralyte & gaviscon. Baby will be fine, just make sure you stay hydrated. Try fruit ice lollies too, as they provide a bit of water & sugar in each little sip, without filling you up. Plus the cool feeling is very pleasant & refreshing!!

Feel better soon.

p.s. DD is now 2yo & gave DH & I the stomach flu just after Christmas!! All of the above worked for the 3 of us... plus lucozade original for me, which is my childhood 'ill' drink! :)

Thanks for putting my mind at ease! I don't usually worry, but I don't think I've ever felt so ill! Managed an Ice lolly about an hour ago. so am feeling a bit more hopeful! Locozade is also my childhood ill drink, so will try that too! Was supposed to be going to a wedding tomorrow, but just don't think Ill be up to 4 hours in a car! Feel terrible letting my friend down though!

That's ok, & glad you're feeling a bit better. Shame about the wedding but you are def more vulnerable to illness when pg & it takes a little bit longer to get back on.your feet, so you should def take it easy. When I was off with the stomach bug, I took 3 or 4 days off (I'm a teacher too & it's unusual for me to not drag myself back at the first opportunity) just to get my energy back. You have to think of yourself at the moment, bubba relies on you to be in top shape. Take care x

Oh and don't forget to mention it to the MW at your nxt appt. Being ill can raise your BP & she might want to do another check before your nxt official appt.

I'm a teacher as well! Likewise I've been off all this week (after being ill on Tuesday). Still feeling kinda tired and queasy, but I think that's the morning sickness. But nobody at work knows I'm pregnant yet... I'm hoping I don't accidentally let on. I'm rubbish at lying so I hope nobody asks me!

Hope you're feeling better :) have you got your Lucozade yet?
