While dressing this morning accidentally caught what appeared to be a mole on my back, went to investigate in mirror only to notice strange discolouration type rash all over lower back. Had mw appt so worked out well but she didn't know what it was. GP said looked like hot water bottl rash and to try no to use it so much (makes sense as suffer with back pain and SPD) ...

.... Any alternatives for the water bottle? It's such a Godsend but worried about rash.

Thanks :)

What about one of those things filled with beads that you put in the microwave? (Sorry have no idea what they are called)

I had really bad hot water bottle marks - it was the only thing to help with my pains. It looked like i'd burnt my skin. It all went away about a month after I had baby and my skin looks like it did before i was pg (apart from the stretch marks!!)

Thanks.
Fat mummy did u continue to use it thereafter? I'm dying for some heat relief but worried about causing any further damage/irritation. It has a cover just had been taking it off in the wee hours when too tired to go and make a new one. A case of milking it for all it's worth! Tia.

Have u heard of a Bed Of Nails? You're supposed to lie on it but as that's not a great idea in pregnancy I tried sitting on mine and putting a cloth over it to lessen the pressure from sitting as opposed to lying on it, and I found it quite effective. Not as great as a hot water bottle and I have gone back to my hot water bottle but it was a brilliant second best option.

I had this. I didn't worry about it, carried on with my HWB, but wrapped it up well. If it went cold in the night I sent H to get me a new one. Least he can do!
My lower back pain has settled now 31+6 (pelvis is hurting instead). The rash is going.
