I know we're not supposed to have cod liver oil, but I've accidentally bought some 'omega 3 enriched' margerine, thinking 'ooh, being healthy', but suddenly thought maybe it's a bad thing for the same reason shouldn't have cod liver oil? Don't know. Anybody know?! x

It'll be fine!

Hi babbashouse

The margarine might only have a small amount and so might be fine
But you're right that cod liver oil is one of the suggested things to avoid NHS

It's hard to avoid everything and you have to do what's right for you and trust your intuition. If you decide not to eat it, you might be able to exchange it in the shop you bought it from?

I believe that cod liver oil is to be avoided due to Vit A in the liver (same reason to avoid pate etc). Omega 3 fish oils aren't the same thing, and as pregnancy vitamins often contain some, I'm sure you'll be fine.

See?

I'm taking omega 3 supplements because I don't like fish so don't really eat it so worried about not having a reasonable dietry source of omega 3, its meant to be good for brain development and I'd spotted that some pregnancy tablets included it but am too much of a cheapsake to buy pregnacare

Pregnant women are meant to limit their intake of fish due to mercury levels, so I wouldn't take loads either. So, small amounts in marg will be fine, even healthy as far as I can make out.
