Horrendous experience, happy outcome

Just wanted to share my last two days. I'm 12 weeks pg and yesterday had the most monumental bleed I have ever seen, worse than post childbirth. Went to a&e where I lost another waterfall of fresh blood all over the floor :( saw gynae dr who was realistic and not optimistic about the outcome.

This morning went to EPAU for scan to confirm miscarriage where I saw my tiny 12week baby completely unconcerned about all that has happened.

I am in shock.

Wow what a roller coaster of emotions that must have been for you. Pleased for you that all is still well with baby. It's amazing what they can overcome even so small.

Yay, lovely outcome to crappy experience.

I had pretty much exactly the same at just after 11 weeks. I've never seen so much blood in one place before and continued to bleed for 2 days like the heaviest period I've ever had. In fact, heavier to be honest. I'm now 26 weeks and all seems well.

Have they found the cause of the bleed?

Spinity · 08/05/2012 17:43

They found a big area on the scan of clotted blood, as big as the baby Shock they said it's a bleed from the uterine wall, not connected to the baby or placenta. Still bleeding little bits but nothing like yesterday! Was more horrified about being left at reception in a&e with blood running down my legs :(

That's amazing, so pleased for you!

PickleSarnie · 08/05/2012 18:20

I bled brown blood for a couple of weeks afterwards, they said to expect it. My clot was still there at my 20 week scan but much, much smaller. It was 10cm x 10cm x 3cm or something like that at 13 weeks.

Must have been awful with that happening at A&E!

Here's to a really boring and uneventful rest of your pregnancy!

Spinity · 08/05/2012 18:28

picklesarnie thanks for that, am terrified every time I go to the loo in case there's more blood! Still bleeding but not fresh and only when I wipe, nothing like the terrifying flood yesterday!

Still seems unbelievable that a baby can live through that kind of thing! Glad other people have had good news too :)

I bled like that a lot from eleven weeks with my dd. it was like weeing blood often with large liver clots. One night I was sat feeding ds2 and I felt warmth, I had completely soaked the futon in blood. We had a tough time of it but she's now five and doing well. just wanted to reassure you

Spinity · 08/05/2012 19:06

bronze it's horrendous isn't it? I too was soaked, thought there is literally no chance that this isn't the end! How horrible that pregnancy can be such a stressful time. Really hope my anxiety settles over the coming days/weeks cos right now I'm terrified!

Oh how scary for you, but I'm SO glad you had a positive outcome - wonderful news.

I know what you mean about the continuing anxiety though - I had a huge bleed with DS at 13 weeks. Made me really paranoid for the whole of the rest of the pregnancy but I never had ANY more bleeding and DS is now a happy 2 year old tucked up in bed! I am now 24 weeks with DC2 and no bleeding (touch wood) at all - guess it was just a one off thing.

Hope you can relax more than I did once everything settles down and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.

bronze · 08/05/2012 19:51

Yes Ive has another one since with no problems too

Jo178 · 08/05/2012 20:01

I bled throughout my pregnancy with one massive bleed just like you describe at 28 weeks. I was given steroids in case they needed to take the baby early. It was terrifying but all was fine in the end and I made it to full term. My little girl is now six months old and none the worse for the experience! Good luck, I know how horrible it is. X
