The runs after every meal?

I'm almost 18 weeks, and after my evening meal I get the runs. Just once usually, but quite dramatically nonetheless. Is this just me? Or another of the glamorous parts of pregnancy I was unaware of? Confused

You're not the only one! I suffered with an upset tummy quite a bit in the early days and now I'm 17+2 and it seems to be back. No sign of the dreaded pregnancy constipation for me. Can quite easily go 2-4 times a day some days (and quite loose.....sorry TMI Blush). I figure at least it's helping keep my pregnancy weight gain down! It seems that pregnancy has given me a sensitive stomach. My friend is a midwife and says as long as it's not accompanied by pain and sickness then it's nothing to worry about. Just keep your fluids up.

Ah thanks Milli. I want to say good to hear, but that sounds wrong somehow Grin. Useful that you've had a conversation with a MW about it.

I've had this on and off. Esp around....22 weeks? And then again around 29/30 weeks. Tends to last a week or so then evens out. I've felt mostly fine otherwise, just get the trots!

Hopefully it'll pass. Mine has, and now I'm a bit bound up...so don't get too complacent on that!

Oh, I've been through this/will probably go through this some more! It's calmed down now I've made it a rule to eat more 'binding' food (BRAT diet, here we come!) also to sit and rest after a meals a bit. I have two other DC and I find that getting up five million times to help them, and then get up as soon as I've finished eating does not exactly help my digestion!

I'm 20 weeks, BTW. Normally, I have excellent bowels! Grin. And no pregnancy constipation for me, any time, ever (dusts off pregnancy medal.....)

The runs sucks, though, doesn't it?

I've had this on and off all the way through this pg - I'm now 37 weeks and have it a bit again! Never anything too bad, but noticeable iyswim. Never had this with my previous 2 pgs. Just glad I haven't got constipation.

Goldrill · 08/05/2012 21:33

Yes - me too. Varying between that and constipation, so I never know quite what it's best to eat. (Has stopped completely in the past three days as I've been on iron tabs, but going to have to come off them or I fear my digestive system may cease to function entirely.)

18 weeks here - and also normally have excellent bowels!! Of all the things I thought I would miss during pregnancy....

Oh I am glad it's not just me, in the nicest possible way Grin
