As title says..
He follows me around all the time and watches me if I'm found housework etc. and seems to have really 'crazy' spells.. Is currently running up and down the hall occasionally popping his head through the door to make sure I'm still here??
Maybe should have posted in the pets litter tray bit, if so sorry

My cat has been odd around me since I have been pregnant, she is either constantly following me and checking up on me or ignoring me, it seems to go in phases, very strange

Florin · 08/05/2012 06:37

My cat has acted strange all through my pregnancy. He is extremly clingy and cries all the time to be picked up and cuddled. He definitely knows something is up!

bettybat · 08/05/2012 06:57

My little cat, who normally treats me with either complete contempt or random lovingness, which is normally switched back to contempt, has also been very nice to me.

No more flying side kicks at me as I walk by, no random hissing or spitting at me for NO reason, no random attacks on my feet, reduced haughty glares - all replaced with a very sweet, very smiley little creature who wants cuddles a lot of the time!

She sounds horrible...she's really not, she just used to hassle me a lot, bother me - the attacks are painless and more like a little bear using me for training practice. But still it was always me that got the hassle, never DH.

Now I just get lots of love. DH says she's switched tactics, and will attempt to double team me when the baby is here Hmm

Our cat is definitely much more clingy since I became pregnant.
He has always loved his cuddles, but now he has to sit right up on my bump, right into my face..."love me,love me,love me..."Confused
He follows me around, in fact I have stood on him a couple of times as I didn't realise he was following me around as I tidied etc...I have massive bump.
He also meows around the house, which he never really did before...puss is a strange puss, but I wuv him!

My female cat (we have a brother and sister) is definitely more affectionate at present. Not that I mind!

readyforno2 · 08/05/2012 11:46

I suppose they must pick up on things.. Just found him sleeping in a basket (meant for nappies) on the bottom of the changing unit in the nursery. Hope he doesn't get too jealous once baby arrives

Since being preggers my rabbit has taken to sitting on my bump and licking my tummy. He has always been quite snuggley and would occasionally lick my hand (a gesture of love from bunnies) but he never used to like sitting on me always opting for a cushion instead and now I am the seat of choice.
It is lovely, but it is going to become interesting as the bump gets bigger.

My brothers dog also LOVES me now wants to sit on my lap, constantly at my feet for attention, where before he would always growl at me.

Does anyone know how they know??

hamncheese · 08/05/2012 20:32

Oh my female cats have been like that but not the male ones (have two of each). Similarly the girls want to be right atop bump or else it's not close enough Grin. It's crazy how they know!

ThePathanKhansWitch · 08/05/2012 20:37

When i was pregnant my mothers cat, who had previously ignored me with an imperious air of distain, fell in love with me.
I mentioned it to a Dr who said he was convinced it was either the change in smell (beyond our senses) from pregnant women.
Really strange isn't it?

RandomMess · 08/05/2012 20:40

MILs stuck up cat was just the same, would have previously ignored all visitors but if someone pregnant turned up they got sat upon and adored.

ThePathanKhansWitch · 08/05/2012 20:41

either the smell thing or* they could hear IYKWIM the baby moving, heartbeat etc.

Enfyshedd · 08/05/2012 21:46

My cat's become extra attentive since I got to about half way through my pregnancy (37+2 now) - when I wake up needing the loo in the night, she appears from either the end of the bed or the landing, walks a few stairs in front of me as I do downstairs and stops to look around & check I'm following ok, then comes into the bathroom with me. Considering that she nearly always used to sleep on the sofa downstairs and would just raise an eyebrow or try and con you into topping up her food if you came down for the loo, she seems to have changed her behaviour quite a bit.

Mothpop · 09/05/2012 11:19

Yup, I also have cats that are behaving weirdly, especially the female.
She is a true tortoiseshell and can be pretty difficult but of late all she wants to do is sit on me. She doesn't want to sit on the bump however, the only place for her is across my chest with me in a semi-lying down position! I love it as she is no way near this affectionate normally but it is pretty difficult to contort myself into a comfortable position for her whenever she wishes!
.... somehow I don't think this will last when DC arrives.... in fact I am sure that I won't see any of them for days!

PoohBearsHole · 09/05/2012 11:23

We got my cat when I was pg with dc2, he ignored me for all of my pg except when he once had fleas. I knew something was wrong as he usually hated me! My dm cat used to just sit on my bump and not leave me alone during either pg.

Weirdly dm cat adores my dc but not my dsis children, follows them everywhere, sleeps with them, sits on the side of the bath watching them if they are there at bathtime etc.

Our cat, likes me a bit more now, still adores dh and is obsessed with the dc. I mean seriously obsessed. jumps into the cot Hmm, allows dc2 to pick him up by his tail the works and then comes back for more Hmm. he still hisses at me though and is only nice when he wants food Grin

Totally gutted.. The cats been missing for three days, can't find him anywhere
