Third trimester and fingers swelling

I'm in my third trimester and in the last couple of weeks my fingers have swollen to the extent I can't wear my wedding ring. I'm also getting stiff and sore fingers in the morning - they are very painful to bend.

Is this normal? Blood pressure is normal btw.

It can just happen (under the general heading of 'weird things your body does during pregnancy'), but it can also be ne of the indicators of pre-eclampsia. If your blood pressure is normal (and in line with your usual level), that tends to suggest it ma all be random, but you also need to get your urine checked and agree onwards monitoring.

When are you next seeing MW? This is something you need to discuss with someone you know to be qualified, sooner rather than laterr to be on the safe side.

I am expecting DC3 and this was my first pregnancy symptom. I have never suffered from it before and don't have swelling anywhere else other than my fingers. I also can't wear my rings but BP is fine. I do suffer from carpol tunnel in later pregnancy so I don't know if this is why I hav got it this time. I think it's normal and ok.

I had this in both my pregnancies. Also my feet and ankles. Try drinking lots of water - it helps flush out your system and keep fluids moving around your body.

Yes, it has happened to me each time Sad. I've just stopped wearing my wedding ring now at 27 weeks this time. Just to warn you, don't put it straight back on right after the birth, sometimes you get puffier afterwards, or it can take a few days for the swelling to go down, especially if you end up with drugs/drips in labour.

In first pregnancy my wedding ring stopped fitting me before I even knew I was pregnant! Just mention it to the MW and they will test for pre eclampsia. I found that cold was helping, like holding a cold can of drink or glass full of ice.

Definitely get this checked out for pre-eclampsia or other late pregnancy nasties - especially if you have any other odd symptoms like headaches, upper abdominal pain, dark urine, pale faeces, loss of appetite or extreme fatigue. It's probably just a bit of fluid retention but better safe than sorry.
