Hello,

I'm currently 4 weeks pregnant (I hope!) and have had a number of positive pregnancy tests. Unfortunately this mornings pregnancy test was lighter or fainter than yesterdays. I am worried that this pregnancy is not progressing as it should be. Anyone else had similar experiences? I have an appointment with the midwife this afternoon anyway, so if there is anything specific I should ask about or tests I should request that might help, please let me know what they are too. Seems I've become a bit of a worrier!!

Thanks,

xx

Hi, the only thing that could determine if pg is progressing or not at this stage would be a blood test to check hcg levels - you would need to have one test, then another in two days time to see if increasing appropriately. But do remember different types of test (even different batches of the same test) and different concentrations of urine can all give you a different result - try not to stress too much just yet.

Your wee was probably just less concentrated this morning. Home tests one day apart can't really tell you anything much I'm afraid. A week apart and it might be a cause for concern, but one day to the next isn't going to tell you anything. Step away from the sticks for a little while.

you are probably worring yourself more by doing lots of tests.
As the above post says, you will have differnt concentrations of urine at differnt times so things might look differnt. If I was you I wouldn't bother testing from now on. You've had your positive more than once, which means congratulations are in order! good luck with everything!

Thank you so much for your replies- I really do appreciate it. It feels odd to be congratulated, but a really nice feeling too. Currently I'm keeping the fact that we were even trying from my work, as i havent started my new contract yet, and as I moved to a new town last year, there's not really any close friends nearby to share it with. I'm definitely starting to get a wee bit excited...

Thanks again
