I'm nearly 15 weeks with dc3. I can go to sleep no problem at all, then after an hour or two I wake up, often for no reason and just lie there...

There is nothing worrying me, I not particularly stressed or anything. I am shattered. I literally tossed and turned all night. Dh is off to the football later and I'll have dd4 and ds2 by myself for pm, tea, bedtime etc.

Help me please

Relaxation CD. The people who do Natal Hypnotherapy do a Pregnancy Relaxation CD. Might help you go back to sleep if you put it on your mp3 and have it by the bedside. The birth one made me drop off every time.

I found that I had a bad spell of insomnia about half way, it got better for a while and then it was ridiculous near the end. Sometimes you just have to get up for a bit rather than just lie there if nothing is working. Have a nice hot drink and try again in half an hour or so. Make sure you have some time to have a catch up nap in the daytime and make sure your DH understands how tired you are and is prepared to take over some more jobs for a bit so you can cope.

I strongly recommend pregnancy reflexology. Tell DH you need an hour or two every Saturday (or whenever he is available to take care of the kids) and book yourself a weekly appointment with someone good. You will get a blessed beautiful hour of relaxation, followed by a deep sleep that night, and your body will be nicely prepared for labour if you do it regularly.

If that's too expensive, a weekly yoga class might yield the same results. I know it is so hard to get the time for yourself but sounds like you need it!

I can't help with a solution, as I didn't find one, but, it does pass! I posted too, just as desperate, by week 16 or 17 it started to get much much better. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

I haven't found a solution either so can only offer sympathy.

I also found that it improved about week 16 but for me that coincided with a holiday closely followed by a period of illness so I don't know if that had anything to do with breaking the cycle or whether it would have improved anyway at that stage.

Alas, the insomnia returned a few weeks ago, around week 30. And to add insult to injury, PGP/SPD set in around the same time which is causing even worse sleep disturbance

The sympathy helps Sad. I'm really running on empty. Will look into the reflexology, I already do yoga once a week and am starting aqua aerobics next week.

It's mental torture. It's going to be a loooooonnnng day Sad

I feel your pain every night I battle to get to sleep and continue to wake up constantly I try not to open my eyes or that's it im awake and not goin bk its driven me mad in all 3 of my pg and I hate it, I also find if iv done a lot that day to tire myself out it's worse my OH even resorted to playing with my hair and playing music to get me to sleep last night, their is an app called Andrew Johnson and I used to listen to it before I found out I was expecting and used to be asleep within 10 mins max iv lost my head phones so not been able to listen to it since but def worth a try and it's only 1.69 for the app

Ow an another thing, it can be a positive thing I found it easier to get up in the night when lo arrived due to having so much disturbed sleep for 9 months I was up like a light wide awake and would be dead to the world as soon as I'd get lo settled I found it was for my own benefit at the end Smile hope that helps you feel a bit more positive towards it
