Braxton Hicks, different in different pgs, worse in later pgs?

I'm 27 weeks and for a few weeks now I have been having Braxton Hicks. In my first pregnancy I barely noticed them, unless I leaned over and suddenly realised my bump was solid. When I did feel them they originated from the top of my bump.
This time I feel them low down first (with my cs scar) and they are very uncomfortable, sometimes I am having to breathe through them. They can last ages too.
I always thought you were supposed to have them less after the first pregnancy, did I imagine that?
I'm nursing my 20 month old and that seems to bring them on, as does sex, which is really putting me off. Anyone had similar?
