I am only 16 weeks, but I think i've been so focused on the excitement of having a baby that I had not really thought about the effect on me if that makes sense?

Until I walked past the Karen Millen and Coast section in John Lewis the other day and looked at the beautiful tight-fitting satin dresses and realised it will be aaages until I look good in anything like that again- if ever!!

Then today I bought Glamour magazine- a waste of £2 as I realised half the articles have no bearing on my life whatsoever now- Lose 10lb in 2 weeks! 50 new sex tips to try (You mean like staying awake?!) 50 figure hugging dresses! Get your body bikini-ready!

So please cheer me up by telling me your totally superficial yet depressing pregnancy moments.

Sorry, mine was the opposite, it was feeling sorry for myself, sickness nausea etc, and watching a programme on women undergoing countless rounds of unsuccessful IVF.

Boy that made me start to feel grateful.

Otherwise it was having to go up a size in shoe.

finally losing sight of my pubes ;-)

Similar to OP - esp. on the 'wearing nice, sexy clothes' side of things!
Now all the nice summer wear is coming into the shops, I've realised I wont be able to wear any of them and will probably be in unflattering elastic trousers and baggy hoodies for about another year!!

I'm a very shy person and my epiphany came at babycraft classes at about 32-34 weeks when I realised that in order for my baby to make an appearance I'd have to be in a room full of strangers without any knickers on Blush.

When the time came I didn't care. Grin

On DC#2 (only 11wks) and realised that I can't go shopping and buy some lovely summer clothes for myself soon as I don't know what size I'll be when summer actually arrives so maternity summer clothes may be VERY necessary or not really much use, as I have a load of late winter/early spring late pregnancy clothes left from first time around.

It was such a shock looking in my wardobe and thinking "When will I next wear that?!!!" and I've already done it once. D'Oh!! Blush

Not in pregnancy. But pushing a pram around for the first week after birth. I felt like such a fraud, live baby in there or not.

Dh tried to treat me to a copy of glamour however I pointed out how irrelevant it was to my life at the moment. Got a baby mag instead. Bored of not buying clothes. Now 33 weeks saw a newborn baby at the weekend and dh and I just couldn't stop staring at the baby and saying that will be us in a couple of months wow. Started doing the washing and seeing all the little clothes hanging on the radiator and pairing little tiny socks made me realise this was really happening too. However don't think it will properly kick in until I finally get my first cuddle with our little ds.
