Hi All,

I'm 30 wks pregnant and since yesterday have had a tightness around my bump that doesn't seem to ease. It's not painful as such just uncomfortable.

I saw the midwife this morning to be on the safeside, she listened to the baby's heartbeat and took my blood pressure. Everything was normal however when she tested my urine there was reason to suggest that I may have a UTI and hence and irritable uterus.

I won't get the results until late tomorrow/saturday morning and in the mean time am drinking cranberry juice.

Just want to know if anyone else has had this tightness and the cause was a UTI, or if it was something else.

Thanks once again for the benefit of your experiences.

Just wanted to post a reply to you, but I'm afraid it's not something I've experienced. I think it sounds like you've discovered the cause. Try and rest assured. I'm currently 29 weeks and have had so many aches and pains and unexpected things it's nuts!

Hope you feel more comfortable soon.

I get that quite a bit and have done for a while. I just assume my body is trying to get my baby into a better position as h is currently back to back.

It doesn't hurt bu it can take my breath away at times.

Are you having Braxton Hicks maybe?

I'm 28+3 weeks and also have a tightening, thought it was just baby sticking his bum up and stretching - but think its actually Braxton Hicks. It usually starts when I'm in need off a trip to the loo.

Maternal -I find that it's much worse when I need to pee too.

Tests came back clear- didn't have a UTI. The M&S dandilion and burdock fizz that I drank must have been responsible for my irritable uterus. After a couple of days of drinking organic cranberry juice my bump hasn't felt nearly so uncomfortable, though still feels as tight as a drum.

Must be Braxton Hicks! Getting you all prepared Smile

Just keep on top of fluids - it can strike when you're getting dehydrated too. But then that makes you need a wee even more too! So just keep going to the loo... Albeit, I think we're at the stage now where it's beginning to feel like you could pop regardless. I am anyway! Measuring much bigger than I should be and I'm only 5ft1 so I just feel like a balloon! xx
