Hello! Has anyone been doing this? I'm 20w pregnant and MW has recommended I join a class as I have been getting some back problems and as my nerves are a bit all over the place following previous losses. She thinks it might help me keep calm and focused. So - am starting a class locally. Have never done yoga before, am not sure what to wear or what to expect! Any advice for this non-yoga lady?!

I do it and never did it before pregnancy. I wear track suit bottoms and a stretchy top but anything stretchy will do, a lot of the women wear leggings and a top pr stretchy dress.
I find it useful as it relaxes me and feel its proper Mummy and baby time. It is very relaxed don't think of it as exercise! However it's good to have a good stretch knowing you are not doing any harm. It's also been a great way to meet other mums to be and also to prepare you for birth

I do it! It's not actually very yoga-ish, it's more relaxation and stretching. Just wear a pair of comfy joggers and a tshirt, and we take our shoes off for it :)

I love it! So relaxing, all the other ladies are great and so is my teacher.
Wear something comfy, and we normally take a pillow with us for a wind down visualisation part at the end.

Ooh thanks for the comments! It sounds great - I was a bit worried I wouldn't be able to do it (honestly, is there anything I'm NOT worrying about at the moment?!) but it sounds really good. Looking forward to it now, thanks!

I go to a class, and used to go to yoga twice a week before I was pregnant. I'd echo Fluffy's view, which is that most pregnancy yoga is not very yoga-ish at all! It's very easy going, a lovely calming time, and we do some gentle stretches which help you straighten out some of the aches you didn't quite know you had. I have SPD which means most of the physical activity I'm used to would be out of the question, but this class keeps me on an even keel in lots of ways. To give you some idea of the pace, we have a break before relaxation Grin. Go and have a lovely time!

I'm going to start soon! Can't wait. I'm not a Yoga person normally, but I did it during my first pregnancy and it really helped. Like others have said, it is just like stretching and relaxation. I wore leggings and a stretchy top.

For the last bit of ours (before we just sit in a circle and chat) we lie down on our mats with our pillows and wrap ourselves in our blankets and she turns off the lights and reads us something relaxing or inspiring. I have to try really hard not to fall asleep but it is my favourite bit!
