Going home with morning sickness?

Help - would it be really bad to abandon work today with morning sickness? I had to stop on the way in to be sick and the waves of nausea just aren't passing. I didn't have sickness with DS so I don't know if I should go or not?!

Help!

I suppose it depends whether you think you'll be able to function through the day, and how you plan on managing what could last for 8-12 weeks? Confused it's not catching :o so there's no need for you to stay home otherwise, iyswim.

With ds1 I was signed off work because the nausea was so bad, I literally couldn't do anything. Luckily my immediate supervisor was pregnant so agreed to me giving up and going home.

I have left work early on quite a few occasions because

a) there's nothing more likely to make me sick than having to hang my face inches from a public toilet

b) if you felt as bad for any other reason that pregnancy, you'd go home, right? And I found tiredness made it so much worse that it was a never-ending cycle unless I took real care of myself.

If you feel you can't get through the day, don't. Smile

Thanks for the advice, I was feeling really weak fr giving up when I hear about other people just throwing up and carrying on. As it turns out it's pregnancy and a stomach bug so quite glad I've come home to hang over my own loo. And I'm secretly quite glad that it wasn't just morning sickness!

Even if it was just morning sickness, if you actually cant stop being sick then you should go home! I stayed off when I couldnt stop being sick. If its just nausea and you feel otherwise okay maybe try and stick it out but tbh, employers are usually pretty keen not to upset pregnant girls so Im sure it would be fine to stay off occasionally. Tiredness makes ms worse, so sometimes its better just to take the day off to sleep.
