Just for a bit of fun,i'm interested in how big your dc were at birth and at what gestation?
My dd's were 9lb at 2 days early and 9lb 7 at a week over,both measured 56cm.
I'm 35 weeks with dc3 and looking at a similair weight, also were you aware you were having a large baby or was it a bit of a surprise and how was your delivery?
Thanks

Update from growth scan (as reliable, or not, as that might be!) - estimated weight at 27+3 still running exactly in line with predictions from 20wk scan; currently c.2lb13...

Followed through, definitely another 9lb-er (although that does seem pretty small compared to some on here Shock

They have shifted my dates forward by a few days and said I'm more like 28weeks today, measurements then fit the range slightly better (still near the top but no longer more or less off the scale) but we'll see

Just had my 20 week scan and she said I'd probably be sent for at least one more growth scan as DS2 was a 10lber, and if baby appeared to be another whopper I'd probably have to go to local hospital rather than MLU (despite having DS's there) Sad

Flisspaps · 04/05/2012 09:49

What about head circumference? DS's head was 40.5cm.

I am not looking forward to the first 'event' with DH after that...flinging a sausage down the Mersey tunnel springs to mind Confused

blondiep14 · 04/05/2012 09:53

Bloody hell flisspaps !!

DS's were 37 and 37.5cm

DS1 was 10lb 7oz, born by emcs and later discovered that I had pre-eclampsia (hospital did not tell me this, I read it in my notes). This time around I took the GTT (wasn't offered it first time) and I have gestational diabetes. My current team seem to think I probably had it first time around, but they are now keeping a really close eye on me. Seem to be measuring on course with the tape measure test, and scans are currently showing that baby is at top of percentile, but not predicted to be as massive as DS1. We shall see...

Well went for my 30+2 ultrasound, baby is measuring over 4lb already and is predicted to be 9-10lb at 39 weeks when I have my c-section scheduled (for other reasons). Yikes!

CakeInMyFace · 09/05/2012 18:46

My DD was 8lbs 14oz and 9 days over - I measured spot on for dates and nobody suspected she was that size. They all figured she'd be around 7.5lbs. Born by EMCS as she was back to back and stuck! I am quite small so was very surprised at her weight - she was (and is) gorgeous though. Her skin was lovely and smooth, and the most wonderful chubby legs!

Dinosaurdrip · 09/05/2012 19:02

Ds1 was 9lb15.5oz at 40+2 and ds2 was 9lb 11oz at 40+5 so hoping it goes down again this time also.

Flisspaps · 09/05/2012 19:04

You lot are all having tiddlers WinkGrin

DD was 8lb13oz at 40+15. Given no one in our family had given birth to a baby bigger than 7lb7oz before & no one had mentioned that it might be a big baby, this was a surprise. Her head circ was 38.3cm - which explained why she got well & truly jammed on the way out! She was clearly well cooked though as she had none of the wrinkliness that you often see with new borns & could hold her head up from the off.
DC2 due on Friday and I have been slightly alarmed by some of the comments made by MW & doctors but I'll just have to see what happens. I'm hoping that this one can also hold its head up as I'm not that used to having to support a baby's neck & head and when friends give me their newborns to hold, it always surprises me how floppy they are.
Oh, and whilst DD started off on the 75th centile & went up to the 99th whilst I was ebf her, she gradually came down and now, at 2.6yr, is on about the 30th.

Ds was 11lb 11oz and 23inches long, born on due date.

Dd was born 5 weeks early and 8lb, god knows what she would have weighed if I'd have got to term.

When I was pg with ds I was scanned at 34 weeks because I was having mild contractions and he was 7lb then but I never thought he would be nearly 12lb.

Both c sections thankfully!

mrsshears · 09/05/2012 20:49

boocha I had a scan last week for suspected polyhydranois(which was negative thankfully) and to check growth, i was 35+4 and baby was 7lb 7oz!
I have been told It's looking like being about 9lb 7oz by the due date,i would hope not nearly 12lb!!!

My DS1 was a week early and 10lb 1oz - not sure of head but was a good size!
He was 95th percentile at birth and now at nearly 3 he is 100th or slightly over and always has been - and wearing 5 year old size clothes!!

Had scan at 32 weeks and was 4lb 1oz (apparently) and no one seems concerned this one is going to be bigger - saying smaller - but I just dont believe it!

I'm now 35 weeks Have a c-section booked for various reasons - think after reading some of the above this is a good plan :)
