Can anything be taken for sore throats/coughs?????

im 31 wks pg and am loaded with cold, i know you can take paracetamol but need something for sore throats and dry cough...any advice please????

speak to your doctor, they would be able to tell you if there is anything you can take!

you can take codeine if you have a bad pain.

Coughs - I think robitussin is ok, tbh I have been getting through mine with chocolate (!) the 70% stuff seems to sooth it, sleeping propped up in bed. Hot mint tea with honey also lovely and soothing.

Try and rest as much as you can (oh and steaming is very good too).

Sympathies.

My pharmacist says I can take gyclerin (sp?).

Hot water with honey and lemon, old fashioned but works. I just use high juice squash not organised enough to get real lemons.

I will back up the honey and lemon, also boiled sweets are good.

I was assured by the pharmacist that sweets are good for sore throats and tickley coughs, as the sugar kind of lines the throat and sooths is a bit!

grate a bit of ginger nto the honey and lemon too.

i had glycerin, but it takes disgusting. you can get it from boots.

Codiene Linctus - you get it over the counter at the chemist. Just try not to take too much. My GP told me that codeine is the best cough suppressant.
Lots of hot honey and lemon drinks too.
The glycerin you get from Boots just made me feel sick, did nothing for my cough.

I am breastfeeding and am suffering with a sore throat (so much that my ears ache and can hardly swallow). My throat is very itchy. Does anyone know of any safe medicines to take for a breastfeeding mother?

go to the doctor as opposed to the pharmacist. they will say you can only have paracetomol, glycerin and saline drops cos everything else says not for pregnant women. if you got the doctor they will tell you quite different.
