Also Slink, they won't look at you like you are mad. I promise. And who cares if they do? At least it will help you.

diddle · 12/04/2006 16:32

i've used my changing bag that i bought with the travel system, for babies things. have also got a bag for DH, but its already got my towel in it as my bag is full. its only small though

slinkstah · 12/04/2006 16:49

thats a good idea about using the changing bag for the baby stuff, i will do that too when i get my travel system. my MIL told me not to have it before baby born etc but i kinda have to check it out before just incase its not right etc and i have no family close by for storage.
i have decided not to pack dh a bag, as the hospital is opposite a subway. what have you packed for dh?

SnowBoo · 12/04/2006 16:50

Can the shop store it til you are ready to collect? Thats what we did with ds stupidly oversized pram/buggy thing.

slinkstah · 12/04/2006 16:55

they can't as im getting it from argosBlush it takes 3 weeks delivery though so im hoping to time it right. it would help if i knew what week they were gonna take the stitch out, i will ask at my next appointmnent.

diddle · 12/04/2006 17:58

slink - Grin my pregnant brain wondered why a subway was a useful thing to be opposite, then i realised you probably mean the food subway Grin
I have packed him a couple of changes of clothes as i know it will be boiling in there, and messy as well, and he will appreciate a fresh t.shirt after watching me do all the hard work. Smile Plus a hand held fan for each of us, the little pocket size ones that we take on our hols, and i'm gonna fill his bag with snacks and bottles of water. The hospital does have a good shop and canteen, but they're not open all the time and they maternity ward is the furthest away from them.

I am totally superstitious about eveything baby related as you know, and they only thign we'll be having at home is the car seat for baby, might collect it today actually. we're gonna put the travel system together and leave it at moms till after the baby has arrived, we won't need it before then.

diddle · 12/04/2006 17:59

Have also got to pack a bag for our cute little dog Basil, because we can't leave him home alone for hours on end. he's going to moms too. better get him organised as well. Far too much to think about.

SnowBoo · 12/04/2006 18:45

Thats a shame Slink. I'm having mine out at 36 weeks. We have bits and pieces of car seat, pram etc scattered amongst family but i'm not putting it all together til i'm nearly there. But strangely i don't have the same sense of doom i had with my m/c. I wouldn't even touch a babygrow then whereas now i feel ok about it.

So who knows. Once the rooms are ready i might slowly start.

Thanks for the reminder about the dog diddle! Poor thing would've gotten left behind Blush Will start packing up her things and buying her doggy food. Otherwise Mil will feed her any old rubbish and as she has a murmur i like to know what shes eating. (Ok, so its still only dog food but she can't have Pedigree Chum, upsets her poor little tummy)

oinker · 12/04/2006 18:56

Diddle.....
Like your thinking. great planning advice. Hopefully one day I will be able to use it.

I can't beleive you only have 8 weeks to go. WOW.. You must be soooooooooo excited.

I got home today and sorted out my mail.
I have got an appointment with Prof Reagan on 6th June which I now have to cancel cos I am pregnant. Never mind... At least I know they will accept me. So if anything should go wrong this time I will still be in with a chance with their help.

Arabica · 12/04/2006 19:01

Wow, hospital bags! I'd forgotten you need those. I'm 24 weeks today (yippee) but still too superstitious to even contemplate getting anything for me or baby, birth-wise, let alone anything for later!

slinkstah · 12/04/2006 19:15

lol yes i meant the food subway placeGrin
you seem very organised! on second thoughts i will pack dp a bag as a tshirt change and deoderant might be good as he might be too stinky for me to want near me after a few hours in the hot labour ward!
also.. can't believe you talking about packing for your dog- reminded me i need to pack for the kids tooShock i totally forgot! but they will be being packed off somewhere so need overnight gear and uniform for them.

snowboo i will badger them for an exact week at my next appointment. last time i asked they said 36,37,38 or even 39 weeks we'll see. i don't know what it depends on!

oinker- welcome home:) its good too know you can be seen at prof regans clinic in future if ness. fingers crossed you will never have to, how many weeks are you now and how many to go before you go furthur than you have before?

slinkstah · 12/04/2006 19:16

congrats arabica:) magical 24 weeks viable life today:)

cori · 12/04/2006 19:37

I hadnt even thought of packing bag for DS and DH. ANother thing to add to my endless list of things to do.

OP posts:
SnowBoo · 12/04/2006 20:59

And mustn't forget to pack the kitchen sink. Grin You never know. They may not have one. Or a bed. Pillows, teddy from ds, computer. Oh, and cooler bag for my nice blue cheese and pate.

HellKat · 13/04/2006 07:53

Morning all.
Welcome back oinker!! Hope you had a great birthday.
How's everyone?
Had an incredibly vivid dream early hours of this morning, so realistic actually got a mirror and checked "down there". Dreamt that I was in last stage labour, alone in my bathroom and could see (& feel) the head. Did'nt get any further though because everytime I moved in the dream, I stopped needing to push. So there's me, head out, putting towels down etc trying to find somewhere comfy to birth lol. It felt that real that when I woke up, swore thing's felt "funny" down there so had to check everything was ok Grin.
Very, very freaky (great though). Shame I never got to see the end result.
lol i'm losing the plot Grin

mygirllolipop · 13/04/2006 09:25

I'm a long way off having to pack a hospital bag (I hope!) but hadn't even thought f the kids, glad I haven't got a dog to think about too, although there is the rabbit. Will just pop the keys to a neighbour she feeds it while we're up north.
Had my scan yesterday all was well and get another on 4/5!
HK - maybe your dream was telling you that the birth will be straight forward and nothing to worry about.

diddle · 13/04/2006 10:19

hellkat - you nutter, nice dream, i hate it when you wake up and you're not sure if they're real or not.

mygirl - hope the scan went well. bet you're thrilled, what was little beanie doing?

32 weeks for me today - can't believe it.

HellKat · 13/04/2006 10:37

Mygirl- well done on the scan!!!!
Diddle- lol can't help what I dream hun Wink

mygirllolipop · 13/04/2006 11:09

Scan was quite nice actually, I thought they would tell me that I wasn't pg after all, DH thought they'd be two. But there was a beanie there just lying lazy, it did jump and wave arm/legs a bit. they zoomed in which I've never experienced before so saw it really close up. It's surprising how fast it's little heart beats. I'm excieted to have another scan at 12 weeks. I've never had one at that stage before as I've always had early ones (7-9wks) so I can see a consultant for the hypothyroidism. I am so excited about seeing it again and getting a picture. The ones from DD1 have just about faded now and they say they only last 7 years.

slinkstah · 13/04/2006 11:12

morning all:)
snowboo - lol at the cheese n pate
Helkat - what a crazy dream
mygirl - great news about scan and good your getting another:) i did not know scan pics only last 7 years, i must look out my old ones and scan them if they are still there.
diddle - whoooooo 32 weeks:) and 30 for me.

mygirllolipop · 13/04/2006 11:18

Slink- they say not to laminate them either as they are heat generated images so using heat to laminate them destroys them. DD1 is 7 so the scan images are off 8 years ago (1998), you can still see the general idea but it is starting to turn all white. If I'd known I would have taken a digital photo of them which would last.

petunia · 13/04/2006 11:33

Morning all,
38 wks here and feeling very uncomfortable. Am spending the Easter hols trying to potty train DD2. We've just managed to get a wee in the potty but she was so shocked at what she was doing, that she stood up half way through! Really hope she gets the idea soon! Off to the midwife later on.
mygirl- congrats on your lovely scan.
snowboo- I packed loads in my hospital bag for DD1 and then got laughed at by the nurses because I had so much stuff. Forgot my maternity pads though Blush.

Hope everyone else is well.

mygirllolipop · 13/04/2006 16:19

Wow- won't be long before we have some births on this thread, it's getting quite exciting

petunia · 13/04/2006 16:45

mygirl- don't look at me for an imminent birth! The midwife thought that because the head isn't low enough down, I'll probably go a week over like I did with DDs. But I'm sooooooo uncomfortable!

cori · 13/04/2006 21:58

Well, I am 37 weeks today, but DS was two weeks overdue. Have a csection booked for 41 weeks if nothing happens. Is someone going to start taking bets?

I am also feeling quite uncomfortable Petunia. Am finidng it difficult to walk very far, and feel quite emotional a lot of the time. I cant believe it will be so soon.
