Strong cramps and BH at 22 weeks - should I be worried?

Since last night I have been having some strong cramps - they feel most like I have a stomach upset, rather than menstrual cramps. I was thinking it might be some spicy chicken I ate yesterday. Blush
But when I get them I also get some hardening of my bump. The pain woke me up at night and early this morning.

Should I call the MW?

It wouldn't hurt to get checked out. I'm sure it's nothing. I've had this a few times, and it's come to nothing.

Is this your first Viola?

I am expecting #4 and have started getting BH at almost 18 weeks. They are worse if I have been on my feet a lot, am dehydrated or need a wee. Last night my wee bump was really hard and sore for a while and I was starting to worry but my midwife has said it is all fine.

It might be worth getting checked out for a UTI though as they can cause similar symptoms.

If you are concerned then a chat with the MW will never hurt. I'm on #2 and I get a lot of BH, they are a lot more uncomfortable than with #1, last time I often wouldn't even notice until I bent over and realised my belly was like a rock. This time I get quite uncomfy cramps and tightening and my CS scar really hurts.
A nice sit down and a rest is usually a good plan.

Thanks all - after having a rest, breakfast and lots of water things calmed down a bit but now I'm finding that whenever I get up and walk around I get BH!
Does this sound normal? I have SPD too so lots of pain going on. This is DC2 - with my first I barely had Braxton Hicks until about 36 weeks IIRC.

If it carries on more this morning I will call.

A nice warm bath and a couple of paracetamol might help. If they are still there after that or you are at all concerned a quick call to your MW or birth unit is probably for the best.

Good luck xx

Update - all got worse across the day and got a last minute appointment with the GP this evening. Turns out I have a UTI :(
On strong antibiotics and rest. Hope the BH/cramps will stop soon as they're a bit scary - doctor said I could ring birth unit tomorrow if they haven't settled down.
Has anyone else experienced this/know about this? I had UTIs in my previous pregnancy but they never caused BH/cramps.

Awwww I hope you feel better soon.
Everything is just so sensitive just now that it is normal for the UTI to set off cramps. Drink lots and rest. Your antibiotics should kick in soon.

Look after your self xx
