Worried about being induced at 38w

Hello - this is a bit of a wimpy whinge. I am being induced at 38w +4 days as an echogenic bowel was picked up at 16w, and apparently they would rather get babies with this out earlier rather than later (even if it does clear up, as this has, there is 8-10% chance of intra uterine death apparently).

I was induced with my 1st which took 7 hours from contractions to popping out, but she was 41 + 4, so a little overdue and i was already 1 or 2cm dilated. I have heard that with early inductions can take alot longer, or end up in CS as they cervix does not dilate etc - I am keen not to have a CS as i do not have family support and DH back to work the next week. I am taking raspberry leaf tea, having some reflexolgy and a specially concocted Clary Sage formula made up to try and help.

Are there any positive early induction stories?
Any weird and wonderful bring it on early ideas? (apaprt from spicy curry, pineapple, walking, sexy time etc! Tried them all with 1st and nothing)

I'm now 36w and feeling like a small planet, my cervix feels like it's going to fall out, i keep getting cramps but I think BHicks, fed up already - how the hell did i get to 41 + last time?

Thank you for any help:) x

I had dd 6 years ago and she was induced at 38+1. It did take quite a while for things to get moving but there was no c section.

I started a thread about it in child birth which I'll link to in a moment but in short be prepared for it to take a while but don't worry baby will be evicted Grin Good luck.

sorry just realised you've posted on that thread already - probably me that worried you in the first place!

Hello - no, it wasn't you that worried me:) I have mega MEGA baby brain and can't remember what I read/said/did a minute a go - brain like a sieve. Was/is your DD ok - recently the press have been banging on about how babies born even a week early can have probs, even longer term issues (sorry, might be cheeky to ask). Got my worry head on about everything now!

Well DD is (so far as anyone can tell) a very healthy six year old, plenty of friends, on top table at school, loves swimming and dancing, has a lovely singing voice and tall for her age.

the papers are always scaremongering a week or 2 either way makes very little difference to these things, after all in France pregnancy is calculated at 42 weeks. DD's best friend was born at 43 weeks and is also absolutely fine

Please do not worry, DS1 was induced at 38 weeks and is fine, DS2 arrived all by his self at 38 weeks and is also fine.

Congratulations and good luck
