Postpartum Girdle

Hi Ladies,

38 weeks exactly and thinking a lot about the what will happen after the birth. I'm considering investing in a postpartum girdle. After reading some reviews they seem worthwhile for back support and to help with the 'jelly belly' thing. I've done a quick search and Bellefit seem like a good choice, but expensive!

Has anyone used any of these before? Would love some opinions!

Thank you in advance!

I have two children and have no idea what a postpartum girdle is...

OK - aren't these just expensive magic pants? Confused

I'm a bit sceptical about these (not been pregnant, but have worked in injury management/recovery) as they seem to encourage the muscles to be lazy at a time when they need to be regaining strength. If your abs are held in by the girdle, they don't need to work to hold themselves in (slightly oversimplified) and could lead to postural imbalances and store up problems down the road. Working to strengthen the abdominals, particularly the deeper ones that support the spine, would probably be more sensible and far cheaper.
