When did you have to go into maternity clothes?

Coming up to 16 weeks pg with dc2 and I think I'm going to have to dig out some maternity trousers before work tomorrow... am quite horrified as it was well after 20 weeks the first time round, does this mean my stomach muscles are shot?

When have others had to resort to elastic waistbands?

I feel sooooo much better reading this thread!!! With DD I think it was well into 2nd trimester before I wore maternity work trousers & possibly later for jeans. I'm only 11wks now & I gave in to the maternity trousers yesterday (although this was partly because none of my other work clothes were clean!!!) My skirts still fit me ok though. I totally agree with Hatched's comments - this bubba has definitely pulled cord to inflate!!!

I have been wearing my jeans with an elastic band through the button hole but my previous jeans are way too big yet. Feel like a big bloated lump, very tightly squeezed between a rock & a hard place!!!

I think I have put more weight on, early on, this time because of the morning sickness, but I did put quite a lot on first time too (think 16-18kg compared to the 'recommended' 14kg) by the end. However, I did lose the weight quite quickly with DD through breastfeeding & started this pg weighing less than I did before her, so hoping it will work out in the end...

With DS (my first) I went from 12 to 14 at around 14 weeks, then into maternity at about 16 weeks.
2nd time around now, I was in maternity trousers at 9 weeks! Thankfully I haven't continued to expand at the same rate though - I'm a different shape this time so actually look smaller than with DS! 32 weeks now and the trousers from 9 weeks will probably be going away as too small this week.
