Wondering if horrendous MS could be due to a boy?? or is this an old wives tale? And also what is it they say about placenta staring to work at around 13 weeks and thats when you start to feel better? is that right?

I had hyperemesis with both DS and DD so I think it's an old wives tale that morning sickness is worse with a boy.
i have no idea about your second question.

They don't actually know what causes morning sickness but it's nothing to do with gender.

A lot of women find it improves at around 12 weeks. I had none with one baby and had it badly till 20 weeks and intermittently thereafter with my second.

there is apparently no correlation between sex and how sick the pg makes you. i had ms and it seems to be a girl in there. i have a friend with extreme morning sickness who's also had two girls.

i don't know about the placenta thing, as far as i understand you start to feel better around the start of the 2nd trimester because the pregnancy is then fully established, so the sick-making hormones (which are the same ones that make the pregnancy "stick") start to reduce a bit.

(e.g., when you take a pg test in 2nd trimester, often it comes out negative, because those hormones have lessened)

i think the placenta starts working a bit earlier than that, not sure though

but it's an old wives tale about MS being caused by boys

my mum was hospitalised with hyperemesis during both her pregnancies, one boy and one girl

i had hideous MS with DS1, less with DS2 and hardly any with DS3!

totally hit and miss.
some people never feel better and have MS the whole way through their pregnancy, so unsure whether it's related to the placenta or not

with the placenta n sickness thing its apperently meant to be that around weeks 12+ the placenta takes over the nourishing of your baby instead of your body doing it which regulates it by hormones, so as the hormones would decread your APPARENTLY meant to feel less sick because the placenta is working properly. dno if this is true tho because im still being sick, not as bad as before but still every otherday vomiting and im 18 weeks today! hope that helps x
