Contractions? Braxton Hicks? Imagination?

So how on earth do you tell the difference? With DD, I woke up at 3am and just knew that they were contractions but then I was 40+13 and had started the whole induction process with a pessary 12 hours before. I'm currently 38+2 and am getting regular bands of pain around the base of my bump. Sometimes they encompass the whole bump but mainly its around the base. They've got to the stage where I'm going "oooh" each time one happens but not having to stop what I'm doing or anything. I haven't has a show (I did lost my plug gradually from 40+8 with DD), got lower back ache or anything else which suggests I may be in labour. However, since waking up at midnight and being unable to sleep, I have done a mound of ironing, two loads of washing, cleaned the kitchen & sitting room & am now contemplating attacking the playroom... is that nesting going into overdrive?
If it is the beginning of labour, I know I should go & get some rest but each time I go back to bed, I'm so fidgety & wide awake that I'm up again about 10 minutes later.

Murtette that is EXACTLY what I have had since 1am today - tightening around the base, accompanied by lower back ache. They came regularly for 8 hours and then stopped about an hour and a half ago. SO FRUSTRATING as I am 41+2 and being induced Wednesday. Have got a sweep this pm so hoping that will kick-start things again!!

Good luck!!

Mine came back for another few hours early afternoon yesterday and were making me wince so I decided they were actual contractions. They then stopped again & its been 24 hour with nothing. My bump has dropped so maybe it was just wiggling down a bit. Its so frustrating! Two of my friends have had their babies in the last 48 hours (they were 2 weeks ahead of me so not unexpected) and I just want to meet mine now!

Here here Murtette!

My second sweep this afternoon showed I'm now 2/3 cm dilated, it's thin and central, and baby's head was making my waters bulge. She was very tempted to break them!!

Had a few painful contractions afterwards, but again, tailed to nothing and stopped.

It IS so frustrating isn't it!!
