This may be a little TMI, but for the last few weeks I've been feeling really wet 'down there'; some days my pants are soaked despite using a liner; as far as I can tell it's clear although recently there has been a little thicker white discharge too.
I'm pretty sure it's not urine; it doesn't smell like it; it smells kind of like... erm, how to put this? .. Like period blood? An almost sweet sickly metallic smell.

I'm now 26+5, I've has this at least 1 - 2 weeks; I can feel baby fine and he's pretty active; he seemed fine at my last check-up last week; listened to the heartbeat and everything :)

Am I being paranoid, or should I call up? A google search throws up mixed results. Could do with some reassurance :(

I have definitely had a wet feeling - had it checked out (as had other symptoms too) and they said it was just normal discharge. With my 1st pregnancy my waters started leaking when I was overdue and it was noticeably different - it was actually leaving wet patches on the bed Blush rather than just being damp.

The sweet smell is something that I've heard associated with amniotic fluid but then it could also just be discharge AFAIK.

I'm sure your day unit or similar would check it out happily and then you could put your mind at ease. Give your MW a call and see what she thinks - it's what she's there for :)

Hi Gwen not sure how helpful this will be but I had a couple of episodes of this - posted this thread about it a couple of weeks ago. After getting checked plenty of fluid round bean and doc said that all sorts can cause sweet smelling discharge including diet. The only pattern I can see is that both times I got sweet smelling discharge I had been drinking a lot of fruit juice so might be the culprit?!

I would always go and get it checked. You can get little ph sticks to check too but far better getting hospital to check you. Hope all is well - I'm sure it is :)

Suggest you get it checked out, if only for piece of mind. It's very simple - they have a little swab thing they wipe on the fluid. Use a sanitary towel before you go, to "collect" it.

I had a week after my waters went before DS was born: DH and I reckon amniotic fluid smells like semen (yuck!)

Thanks for the replies :) It seems to have let of for now and baby is still kicking, but if it comes back I'll call straight up; I have my GTT next week so will ask about it then.
Angelico, glad all is ok :)
