Gender scans, first hand experience of them being wrong?

Had a private gender scan yesterday with babybond and was told that baby was a girl.
I was completely surprised and shocked and couldn't believe the sonographer. He was very understanding and due to my reaction showed me her bits in different positions and even in 4d.
I know I may silly but I wondered if anyone had any first had experience of scans being wrong.
I'm scared to be happy and excited incase it's a boy and I'd hate for people to think I was disappointed if my much wanted baby turned out to be a boy after all.

Sorry for rambling. Am still a little dumb struck that this baby could actually be pink!

Um a bit confused here. Did you ask to find out? If he showed you her bits it sounds pretty likely she is a girl. I think maybe being pregnant is playing with your mind - if you are happy be happy.

Sorry. It is a bit of. Jumble.

Yeah I had a gender scan and was told girl.
But was just wondering if anyone had any experience of sonographers getting it wrong.

Again slightly confused at this - as it was 50/50 chance surely?

Have you had an inkling that you were expecting a boy hence the shock at being told a girl?

Bubblebell1 · 25/04/2012 17:49

I have 2 boys already. Was convinced this baby was a boy too.
I know it sounds strange but when the sonographer Said girl I was shocked beyond belief.
So was curious as to wether the make mistakes often or not.

I had a babybond scan with my twins where I was told definitely one boy, and the other was probably a girl, but to go back and have a second scan to make sure two weeks later.

I went back in two weeks, different sonographer, who confirmed I was having boy/girl twins.

5 weeks later I had...two boys!

hi i had a gender scan at Babybond at 16 weeks for my twins, they said they were girls, i too was shocked as have 2 ds already!!! the lady was very confident and showed me the bits on both babies, and took the time to tell me why, my mum asked her whether she was 100%girls, i said they don't say that but the lady said its either girls or boys and their girls! i have since had 2 nhs scans and both said girls so im much more confident :) hope yours is correct too x

I was told girl at a private scan - chose names, were written on band in hospital only to delivery 16 hours and 1 em cs later a BOY.

Have to say i did struggle with it for a few weeks - not the baby but kept calling him, her and had to change all clothes etc etc

sparklekitty · 25/04/2012 18:12

I think it's more common to be told it's a girl and it turn out to be a boy that to be told it's a boy for it to end up being a girl. (Not saying mistakes are common just that of the mistakes made I think this way is more common if that makes sense)

kilmuir · 25/04/2012 18:16

You seem disappointed. Are you hoping lots of people say monographer
got it wrong.?

kilmuir · 25/04/2012 18:17

Or monographer even!

Bubblebell1 · 25/04/2012 18:23

Oh no kilmur far from it. I'm over the moon. I suppose it's me thinking it's too good to be true. We would love a little girl.

Just worried about letting go and enjoying it and then having to explain to people that no I'm not disappointed that my lil girl turned out to be a boy.

I used babybond for my gender scan they told me 99% boy even printed his bits out my dd1 says it looks like a face 2 me looked like a face lol. Still didn't believe them so when I went to 20wk scan asked if they could tell me sex and she said 99% boy. X
