TRIPLE TEST

Got my triple test results last week and although it came back as low risk I was quite suprised at the figures that they gave me expecting them to be something like 10,000:1 but instead they were less than 1000:1 and although my age risk was just over 1000:1 my actual risk was nearer to 700:1. Is that unusual?

Also wondering if a 3d/4d scan at around 30 weeks will be able to detect any abnormalities of this kind if there are any to detect?

not that unusual a test result, yes the 3d scan might detect a physical abnormality but it would have to be a pretty signif. one (like club-foot). And that itself would be a soft-marker for chromosone defect, but not a 100% reliable indication.

My ds triple test result was 1/3500.. my dd was 1/248 and i was only 28. They way I got my head around it was to think that the risk of miscarriage from an amnio is 1/100.. so I was more likely to miscarry than to have a baby with downs. My SIL has DS so was a real worry to us.. needless to say, dd is fine..I know you'll keep thinking about it, but try not to. Just enjoy your bump
