Should I try to loose weight?

I'm 13+4 and due to being ill with morning sickness leading to no exercise and constant eating, I've put 10lbs since getting pregnant.

I feel crap and what I thought was a bump is probably fat and bloat.

I know they say don't diet during pregnancy but how serious is this? Can I eat healthily and increase exercise to lose the weight? It's put my BMi to 24.9 and i'm really worried about it.

Hi Sastra,
It is rubbish isn't it - I found that constant eating really helped with the all day and night nausea but it did mean that I gained about the same as you during the first trimester. If it helps, the weight gain slowed down alot once I started eating better and exercising again and whilst I have still gained more than I would like (19 lbs at 25 weeks), my weight gain is much nearer to the normal range.

I think dieting isn't reccomended unless you are seriously overweight but if you can eat healthily and slow the weight gain down then that is the best way to stop gaining too much over the rest of your pregnancy.

Good luck!

Hi

you BMI is still under 25. BMI of 25 is in the healthy range. I would say the key is to try and not put on much more weight other than baby weight and water weight if that's what your are worried about rather than dieting as you don't need too, and shouldnt if you aren't very over weight.
Try really looking at what you are eating and make healthy choices when you eat.

good luck
