I'm 18 weeks pregnant tommorow, just been to the loo and there was a little bit of brown spotting on the liner (liner incase I sneeze and leak).

Had brown spotting with my daughter last pregnancy a few times, had sex last night for the 2nd time (and 1st time was very shallow) maybe I've disturbed my cervix perhaps. Hardly anything there when I wipe now.

Just called my MW and left a message on her phone - I'm guessing there is nothing to worry about if no pain and I'm still feeling baby's movements.

The first question I was going to ask is wether you was have you had sex recently because when I was pregnant with my first the same happened and I phoned the MW and that was the first question she asked me !!! Aparently there are more blood and vessels down below when pregnant and after sex they can sometimes rupture causing a little bleed. Also as it is brown it means it is old blood so I shouldn't worry, only if there is bright red blood and pain should you worry xx

Thanks sproglet. Midwife came round and listened to baby's heartbeat and everything seemed ok. Told me to keep an eye on it and let her know if it happened again, got worse or in pain and she'd send me down to the relevant ward in the hopsital.

Sproglet - how long did you spot for - do you remember?

Or anyone else who's had the same issue?

Thanks.

hello - experienced 'spotter' here. have been having it on and off since about 16 weeks I suppose. have had pink and brown which lasts about 3 days then goes and at one time had it weekly - so worried but mw told me it was just one of those things... did end up getting checked out at hosi once as had periody feelings but i have had that loads too and think it is ibs! anyway, now 32 weeks + and last brown was about 3 weeks ago funnily enough when i had just started taking iron, had also moved house but physical exertion doesn't seem to make it happen, do loads of gardening. i posted on here and lots of people had had spotting all the way through and had babies in their arms which got me through to this stage... hope you can relax but I know it is difficult.

Thanks surfmama, I did have it last time from perhaps 15 weeks to 24 weeks off and on, so perhaps it's normal for me. I was hoping it would not happen in this pregnancy too as it just makes me paranoid.

Good luck with the baby!

Hi 'Due' I only and a few spots the day after I would have sex and by the end of the day it would have gone. At least you have contacted midwife and she has done the all the checks. Just remember you are now 18 weeks and the risk of anything going wrong has gone down considerably. Good Luck xx

Thanks sproglet - I think it probably was the sex that set it off. Won't be doing that again!Grin.

My MW worried me as well as reassured me, saying it could be other things and to be aware - so I'm checking myself like crazy now!
