Hi there,
I've already been on about this on the last thread but here goes:
I'm 5 wks today (I think). Last Sunday (4 w 2d) after a lot of rushing about I suddenly had a little flow of red blood (three little gushes over about 30 mins) not a lot, about two tablespoons total, sorry for TMI. No cramps or pain. An hour later it turned brown and dried up completely by the evening.
Since then still feel preg, sore boobs, sicky and light headed. Lots of CM (sorry again!). Scared to test because it would be pos even if I'd m/c.

Do you think it sounds like I m/c, and how soon could I do another reliable test? Any help appreciated..

hi gemmitygem
can't offer too much advice only that simalar thing happened to me when i was about 7 weeks, had small bleed which turned brown the dissapeared. Everything was fine and am now 31 wks. Have you spoke to your m/w?

Gemmitygem · 10/02/2006 11:41

thanks worriedmum2b, that is reassuring. I'm working abroad in Central Asia, and not planning to have any care/scans etc until 12 weeks when I come back to the UK for a trip...

I spose I'm trying to be optimistic since still have preg symptoms and would assume there would be more bleeding to a m/c. Anyway, keep your fingers crossed for me! You must be really excited, not long to go now!

Go to your doctor - there is probably an Early Pregnancy Service locally where they could get you in for an early scan (although probably best to wait a week as easier to tell how things are going after 6 weeks).

I had spotting in early pregnancy but not as much as you are talking about. I know other people who did have that level of bleeding and some were OK, some weren't. You really need a scan (or sequential quantitative blood hCG counts) to be sure.

LeahE · 10/02/2006 11:46

Ah, sorry, only just seen you're abroad (cross-posting). You could see if you can get two quantitative hCG tests done there a couple of days apart to see if your levels are rising properly (if you've got local private health care, for example).

Otherwise, when I did have a m/c at about 7 weeks the hCG had cleared my system within 3 weeks, so you could wait a few more weeks and do another pregnancy test.

worriedmum2b · 10/02/2006 11:46

is there anyone over there that you can see for some advice until your scan like a early pregnancy unit or anything?
im really nervous now, not long 2 go. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you

JackieNo · 10/02/2006 11:52

I bled on and off in the first 12 weeks of my first pregnancy - spent the entire time thinking I was m/c and very nervous every time I went to the toilet as to what I might see when I wiped (sorry if TMI). But it stopped, and everything was absolutely fine. Hope it all turns out OK for you.

expatinscotland · 10/02/2006 11:54

Me! With both girls. Both were born full term and healthy.

I know how frightening this is, but if there's no cramping or pain or heavy bleeding, chances are things are okay. Please try to get into your Early Pregnancy Unit, just to ease your mind.

You sound like you're doing allright!

JoolsToo · 10/02/2006 11:55

yes with No 3
stayed in bed for a fortnight and everything was fine

serenity · 10/02/2006 11:57

I did this with both DS1 and DS2. If you aren't getting any pain or cramps then you're probably going to be fine I have had a m/c and it felt totally different, lots of clots rather than fresh blood (sorry tmi!) With DS2 the first 'gush' I had (they went on every month or so until about 28 weeks iirc) was enough to soak my jeans and car seat, and he was fine, even came 10 days late!

I was given loads of reasons, but nothing conclusive. I know that a lot of MNers have gone through the same thing and had successful pgs at the end of it, but outside of here I've never really seen anything about it. It's not really talked about.

tonton · 10/02/2006 13:11

Suddenly started bleeding healvily at 12 weeks, having had none before. We assumed I'd lost the baby, and were just sitting in casualty wrapped in towels waiting to hear what the process would be. But she was fine! Probably just a burst blood-vessel. I had been working excessively hard for the preceding fortnight (14 hours days etc) so that may have affected it.

puppy · 10/02/2006 13:19

Hiya,
I'm 8wks today and once a week I have had bleeding, had a scan last week and I have extra chrionic haemorrage (ech). its bleeding within the uterus but outside the gestational sac, I have been told it won't affect my pregnancy and is very common due to the uterus been very vascular.
I was told to goto the gps if the bleeding was heavy and had clots.
It could be a implantation bleed where the egg burrows into your uterus.

Hope all is well, good luck

starlover · 10/02/2006 13:21

i had EXACTLY what you describe! went down to EPU who scanned and could find no reason for hte bleeding.

went on to have a healthy baby boy!

it does seem to be a VERY common thing.. lots of threads on here about it

spilla · 10/02/2006 13:49

Same thing happened to me at exactly the same amount of weeks - they told me it was implantation bleedin (where the fertilised egge burrows its way into the womb lining to start to grow) I was still not reassured and still panicked right up until my first scan at 12 weeks but they must have been right as I had a healthy baby boy 8 months later ! Hope you are ok now

Lottielou · 10/02/2006 14:15

Same happened to me, i'm now 22 weeks. Worried the hell out of me but i went and got checked out straight away. They scanned me, all was fine and now look where i am.
Try not to worry and get yourself checked as soon as you can.
hugs

KateF · 10/02/2006 14:16

I bled on and off with dd1 and very heavily at 14 weeks with dd3 when I was told I would most likely miscarry. Both are fit and well . Really hope everything is ok for you.

poppiesinaline · 10/02/2006 14:28

I bled quite heavily with No 2 at 14 weeks. Had cramps and lower back pain. Midwife sent me to A&E. Was sure I had miscarried but baby was fine. Went on to have a lovely, normal baby girl full term. Hope all is OK.

Gemmitygem · 10/02/2006 15:26

Thanks so much for all your comments: I'm amazed at how many have had the same and gone on to have healthy babies.. I feel deep down it's ok, but of course the anxiety is there.

Think I will see about having an early scan at 7-8 weeks, if such a thing exists here, and if not grit my teeth and hold on for UK trip at 12 weeks..

Anyway please keep your fingers crossed for me; hopefully I'll still be posting on the October 2006 mums board for the next 8 months!

sweetkitty · 10/02/2006 17:23

Another one here bled at 9 and 10 weeks with DD1 9 weeks was bad loads of blood, got scanned all ok!

micromum · 10/02/2006 17:27

Im with spilla on this one just had my scan (12 weeks) told midwife had a bleed about the same time as you 5th week, she told me it was an implatation of the egg. What a relief.

CoolTurkey · 10/02/2006 17:40

2 sons, 2 implantation bleeds.

In fact I hit the bottle with the second one as, with immaculate timing, dh came home and told me a colleague was pregnant and I assumed I wdefinitely as not!!

However he doesn't seem to have a suffered for being pickled whilst implanting. He is now a 16 year old hunk.
