Just read an article about jewellry that is safe to wear during pregnancy if you have your naval pierced. I had mine pierced with a normal belly button bar and took it out just before 12 weeks as my stomach started to grow - do you think it could have harmed the baby in any way?

Can't see how it could harm the baby! might harm you though - tearing as the skin stretches.

I changed my bar for a ring and kept it in right the way through my pregnancy. My MW told me that as long as it was comfortable there was no medical reason to take it out.

i had bell bar which i had to take out in first pregnancy after belly started stretching in 4th month, this time around i havent taken it out at all and im 5mths, skin is already stretched around it so makes no difference if i leave it in...dont worry, your baby is still nice and safe

You can get plastic ones online which are made for maternity as they are longer.

here's one link

i left mine in, and put in a retainer, i did have to remove it for my c/s though, DH just put back in for me afterward.

Thanks everyone - I feel much better now - not bothered about wearing one at the moment to be honest - was just worried that I should have taken it out earlier.

I put in one of the long plastic ones for a whiile but it p*ssed me off so I took it out. Found the hole was still there after my 6 week check so I have my belly bar back in!!
