Hi

I'm five weeks pregnant today with my second and feel awful. I had hyperemesis in my last pregnancy and have already thrown up with this one. My OH seems to have been trafficked straight back to the hell of last time by the stripey pregnancy test, and is trying to secure my promises that I'll act as superwoman this time, looking after our 21 month old.

So - do I march down to GP on Monday demanding medicine or do I focus instead on trying to get fr

Argh sorry - iPod fiddly at best of times Blush

Was trying to say - do I leg it home to my mum ( other end of the country) on the basis I can still stand up without heaving and if I wait here til nice doc appointment, I may be too ill to travel esp with toddler.

My OH isn't as much of a twat as I make him out to be - he just isn't very good at hand holding; A whole different thread would be on my opinion on my MIL Grin

Thrilled to see the BFP: not so thrilled to remember why I swore I would never do this again, and even less thrilled that I need to go puke now (sorry!)

Now if only I give this a title... (note to self - queasy iPod posting - not such a great idea [grins]

Can't he look after your toddler sometimes? Or is it a case of you looking after your toddler full-time whilst he works outside the home? Think it sounds pretty unfair for him to expect you to be superwoman without offering to do more himself.

Is the fleeing to your mothers so that she can look after you and toddler when you are very sick (or is it about leaving OH for being an insensitive git?)

I haven't had really bad sickness so I'm lucky not much help with advice about medication, but think there are safe drugs which people find useful.

There's a Hyperemisis support thread around here somewhere where you will most likely find fed up sick pregnant women women with experience of these issues who will be able to give more detailed advice about what options there are for medication.

Congratulations on your pregnancy, sorry about the side effects xx

I was that sick! Get thee to thy mothers now Grin.

I only have 1 DD. But the memory of that sickness weighs heavy on my mind, and I honestly have no idea how I will cope when we have a second. My DP is out at work alot and I do the lions share of the work with DD. Its a big factor in us not ttc again yet!

If the option for help and a bit of rest is there take it Smile

Get yourself to a GP and your mums house :)

I am having hyperemesis this pregnancy (DC2, 22 weeks) but didn't have it at all with DS's pregnancy so it really is a shock to me!

DH has been a total gem though, which has made things bearable.

Hope you're doing well otherwise apart from the sickness, although I know it feels all-consuming.

In my first pregnancies I suffered with absolutely awful sickness and then I discovered vitamin B6 supplements! Just one a day from boots/tesco/chemist etc and I found that after a few days of taking them the nausea is so much better! Good luck.x

What everyone else has said really, get to the gp now even if you get the meds & wait & see what happens. I've got HG in this pregnancy (second child, first HG) & nothing could have prepared me for how awful it is & how down it makes you feel. You should also check in at the hyperemesis support thread, the ladies there are so supportive & have sooo much great advice.

Hope you don't get it this time but best to be prepared as you can go downhill so quickly.

Best of luck!

Thank you! All of you... I actually posted on a sudden loss of symptoms thread earlier cos I was worried that I had stopped feeling so utterly sick - but this loss f sickness has only been for four hours and I think says more about my experience of pregnancy (permenant nausea! ) rather than anything awful. I still feel dangerously dizzy for instance!

I think the thing which I'm definitely gonna do is get to my doc. I saw one on Friday cos I wanted to book an appointment and they palmed off a cancelation on me (seriously - who moans that they got to see a doc too quickly [grins]) but it meant that i saw a grumpy old man who rushed through everything, possibly to get my grumpy toddler out of the room. I did try mentioning Previous HG but he jus handed out gaviscon Hmm so I want a proper chat - the comments about going downhill very quickly hit a nerve Smile so thank you.

OH is trying. I think he's mainly worried about HG again...it was awful last time... Right. Where's that doctors number?
