Hello
Has anyone else had experience of testing positive for this during pregnancy? GP called to say I had tested positive for the virus and they have made me an appointment with a consultant for Monday. I knew slapped cheek was in my daughters school around 6/7 weeks ago. My first blood test went missing and have just got the results from the second test taken at 15 weeks.
I'm really worried, how worried should I be? I had a scan 3 weeks ago and all was okay. I've booked a private scan for tomorrow as I havent been told what the consultant will look for on Monday. Has anyone else been through this?

A friend of mine did as she worked in a school when she was pregnant and some parents sent their kids to school with slapped face syndrome after docs told them it was harmless, everyone failed to mention it to my pregnant friend :( she was worried sick too but all was ok her little boy is fine. apparently it can cause breathing difficulties at birth so they will look out for this but her little one was fine. The only way she does think it affected him is he gets a lot of chest infections but whether this is related who knows? Try not to worry I'm sure you will both be fine, its a shame people don't realise how this can affect people in pregnancy though, i was sure I'd got it in my last pregnacy as it was around and i had achy hands but i hadn't!
