Nuchal Scan at 11+2?

Hi
Im x posting with Antenatal Tests topic.

Ive been redated to 1 wk 4 days earlier than I thought. This now means that Ill be on holiday from 11+3 to 13+5 - the timeframe needed for the Nuchal.

Ive just called Fetal Medicine Centre and they told me they wouldnt do it at 11+2, only from 11+3.

Ive got an appointment with the NHS for when we get back from holiday when Im 13+6 but am nervous that it will be too late. Im 37 and feeling nervous about this pregnancy after 2 mc.

Does anyone have experience of early Nuchals and how successful they are in reading the scan?

Also, any recommendations for somewhere good that would do one from 11+2?

We are in Kent, but can travel to London.

Many thanks for your help, hating the fact that we've got this holiday booked and feeling v anxious.

xxx

no advice on early ones, but just a thought if you are really concerned. I did both NHS and FMC this time, as am older than you and have had 5 MCs, and this pg is my final shot. I went for FMC even after I'd had a good low risk nuchal result, because I knew FMC look for all 4 markers whereas my NHS only looked at fluid thickness. Would you prioritise FMC nuchal if your NHS one also not as thorough? And book it for 13+6 up there?

I know 180 quid is not to be sniffed at, but it's the best reassurance I felt I got?

Good luck.

Hi - I am sorry to hear about your MCs. I have had a few private scans with Baby Premier in Harley STreet following a second trimester MMC in my last pregnancy. I found them to be the most reasonably priced of the private clinics in London and the service was good. Might be worth giving them a call, Good luck x

When I had my dating scan it was 14 weeks on the dot (a week or so more than I was expecting). Anyway, they still did the nuchal measurement and she said I was within 2mm of her being able to do it, not sure what that means, but seems whilst they have to have time windows, it is possible.

Thanks for all of your replies. Sorry to hear about your mc's Beans and Jollster. I think I will try and find somewhere that will scan me the day before we go on holiday and take it from there - if Im not happy with that, I could try and book FMC for when Im back.

If anyone has any advice on early Nuchals (and where to have one) Id be really grateful.

thanks again

I've just had mine on the NHS. I thought I was 11+3 on the day and was worried I was too early but the sonographer said 11+2 was the earliest date they do. I went privately with DD1 because they didn't do it on the NHS then and I recall the dates being later at the private clinic.

As it turned out he dated me at 13+1 so I have 12 days less to wait than I thought :)
