I'm 39 weeks today, past few days I've been feeling rotten such as sicky feeling and irritable. Including increased BH, I was unable to sleep all night last night as I just 'didn't feel right' anyway, I have spent all day on the sofa due to back pains, they started off really mild with crampy feelings but my back is now getting really painful actually, its low back into my hips,it changed in intensity but is pretty constant, iv only noticed a few contractions in my front where my belly goes hard and pains but nothing compared to my back pain. I have been losing plug for a while, another great big piece has come out today. I have a very bad headache and basically feel quite sh*tty and strange. Keep feeling like my belly is churning and is a bit upset, although not had any BM today, should I be concerned? Or just put up with is? Which I have been trying to do all day and its just getting worse.

I had this with dd1. You might find getting on all fours and sticking you bottom in the air helps. It sounds as if everything is starting for you.

My birthing ball helped, paracetamol and a deep bath.

I found the back pain worse than the "proper" contractions.

FuckedOfftotheFarSideofFuck · 18/04/2012 17:23

Maybe call the midwife/hospital?
Have you got an appointment soon? It does sound like it could be the start of things.
Have you taken some paracetemol and/or a bath?

BillyBollyBandy · 18/04/2012 17:23

Oh and my dd1 was back to back as well, which we didn't realise until I went into labour. On the plus side when she turned she did shoot out Grin

confuzed90 · 18/04/2012 17:28

Thankyou I'm going to try a bath. Its actually making me teary. Hurts so much but fed up of false alarms so don't want to go into hospital. Its so persistant. The only thing that made it feel slightly better was my back being rubbed by DP, as soon as he stopped it intensified again.
I don't think I'm feeling much in my front though? Just a few crampy feelings an a bit 'upset' tummy, but like I said been having many symptoms since saturday.

I found that the back pain remained and then the labour pains started in earnest, for me that was about 24 hours later. Hopefully it will be quicker for you

I am 38 weeks pregnant with my first So I have no experience but my mum, sister and aunts had all their contractions in their backs. My mum said no one told her until afterwards, That this can happen and my midwife also mentioned It at antenatal classes. So perhaps call into The labour ward. I have had an increase in back pain in the past week so I am expecting the same. Sorry if this isn't any help. Hope your ok and take care.

DD was OP and all my contractions were in my back - absolutely no sensations in my front at all. However they were very clearly defined contractions, beginning at say 40 mins apart then increasing in intensity and frequency. If it's more like continuous pain then maybe it's just the start of things rather than actual labour?

RockChick1984 · 18/04/2012 20:36

My labour was back to back, I didn't have any contractions just constant pain in my back and what felt in my tummy like the worst stomach upset I'd ever experienced! From pain first starting to 10cm dilated was around 8 hours! I'd go in just to be sure, it sounds like this could be labour!!

lostlenore · 19/04/2012 09:18

Yay confuzed! Is it happening?

With DD my pains were in my back, but it was intermittent (awful ache every five mins or so, felt like I was being tortured). My contractions didn't show up on electronic monitors and the mws were still saying "is she actually in labour or not" when I was 8cm....

Hopefully there will be some good news on here soon x

You poor thing, I remember it well.

Do you have a TENS machine? They are good for back pain I think. Keep on the paracetamol, you are doing wonderfully well!

Yummymummyyobe1 · 19/04/2012 14:00

Hi Confused hope things are progressing a little better today. Sounds like baby is on the way. Try not to get too stressed out, it sounds like baby confused will be here before you know it. xx

confuzed90 · 19/04/2012 15:33

Hey well still shocking today! No I don't have a tens machine. I have had a wierd burst of energy...managed to blitz the whole house including disinfect and polish the skirting boards and doors (don't ask) and hoover the ceiling. Lol. I know crazy! I have finally finished. House is so clean but now I'm aching like crazy! Think I pushed it a bit too much. Will get lots of chocolate in and have the day in bed tomorrow :D
