Best pregnancy pillow

Which one is best? I'm having heinous hip pain at night (at only 17 weeks!!!! Grrrr!!!) so I think the time has come to purchase one of those mahoosive preggo pillow things that all the cool girls seem to have

I have been wondering the same. I had a big V with my previous pregnancy and found it great. sadly, I got rid of it. However, I know there is alot more choice out there. Lots of people seem to recommend a dream genie.

I've also been looking into sleeping pillows. it's between the Theraline V shaped thingy or the Dreamgenii, but am still deciding. I don't have much money to spare though.

I bought the DreamGenii, but I can't get along with it at all. I feel as if I have a massive sanitary towel between my legs when I use it, and I can't move suring the night without having to re-position it, which properly wakes me up and I can't get back to sleep.

Put a normal pillow between your knees and ankles. I am pregnant with 2nd child and my v-shaped one is still in parents loft and dream-genie is in the bottom of the wardrobe, not comfortable at all.

Save your money and spend it on a widgey for when the baby is here! First time around I hoped that the pillow would be a miracle cure - tis not and doesn't make you cool either!!! Bump belt worn during the day is a help with my hip pain too though.

Normal pillows don't work for me, I'm currently using two and some extra duvet but they always end up on the floor, at the bottom of the bed, or my DP sleeping on them - how, I do not know!! :( :)

I am using the 5 ft one folded from Argos, folded over... it helps, and doesn't appear to fall out of bed like the normal pillow did! It does take up some space in bed though lol... my partner is less happy.

I've got a v-shaped one from John Lewis (just from their standard pillows/duvets dept) which is fab; had bad hip/pelvis/back pain last time around by this stage (25 weeks) and tried to manage just with a spare normal pillow, touch wood this time nothing so far, so seems to be doing the trick. Really noticed the difference when I had to do without it for a few nights last week too.

I bought one from Argos, think it was just called a maternity pillow, it's just a really long pilow really but it goes between my legs, supports my bump and then I cuddle it. It's bliss when I am in bed and have finally arranged myself in this position, it's by far the most comfortable I am all day (nearly 33 weeks with spd), I would really reccomend the pillow it's made my sleep so much better!

I loved my DreamGenii pillow.

I found a normal pillow & my John Lewis v-shaped pillow too big & bulky to use between my thighs and keep my top leg in line with my hip to relieve the pain.

Loved the fact that the DreamGenii had support for my back too, so I could relax into it, iyswim. Yes, it was a bit awkward to adjust in the night, but my pelvic pain was such that I wouldn't have slept any longer without it, & other options just didn't work to relieve the pain either (my pain came from flexing my hip wide out of the pelvis, so bulky was v bad).

just wanted to add my two-bits worth - I have one from mothercare (though not the body plus one someone above posted), I bought mine 2 years ago for £30 and its basically just one long pillow in a cover - its crap don't buy that one! Its now turned into two pillows in one big cover which is utterly pointless and the cover has shrunk somewhat after washing it..the newer mothercare one looks much better though as it seems to be in three panels which hopefully won't end up splitting into little pillows...

I've got myself a theraline v one this time and I am finding it very good. Because it's full of micro beads, it is very supportive, but there's enough give in it to be comfy.

It's bigger than the v pillows I've had before too, so can prop myself upright but also move it round to support my legs etc.

i had my baby 19 years ago and kept the pregnancy pillow i bought- it was that good! Its basically a very long, fairly firm pillow. I now use it to go along the back of the bed where it adds bulk to prop up my decorative pillows. very useful for reading in bed too. It fits the width of a double bed so must be about 4 feet 6 inches long.

mine sounds like the one onlymydogunderstandsme has but as mine is ancient cant find a make on it.

I got the dream genie, but don't like it that much. It's not big or supportive enough. I find it better with3 normal pillows - 1 between my legs, 1 to cuddle in front and 1 behind me. Even then I'm still not sleeping that well though

I think the dreamgenii is totally shit - a complete waste of money. I also emailed them asking some advice and no one even bothered to reply, so am not impressed with the company as whole, especially given the damn thing was so expensive. Step away from the DreamGenii!

I went with a normal v pillow in the end which I use one 'leg' as a normal pillow under my head and the second down my back, which seems to stop my back ache. I then have a maternity wedge pillow under my bump and an ergonomic on for between my knees which stops the hip pain - so glam but it works!!

I have the dream geniie. Got it when I was 16 weeks and now 30 weeks and it has been my best purchase. I love it, it is so comfy I can't sleep without it. Normal pillows take up to much room in the bed and seem to push dh out of bed! Had 10 days on holiday without it as dh said I couldn't take it on the plane and I missed it so much I was excited about coming home just to have it back again!

Having read lots of similar threads I ordered the Theraline one a few days ago - waiting for it to arrive. I liked the fact that it wasn't flimsy stuffing inside that would lose its shape and support. Can't wait for it to arrive!

To be frank, this thread has not been updated for a while now, and while searching google for "best pregnancy pillow for hip pain" this page came up and I am glad I did visit it!

Am not currently pregnant, but my friend is, she is having a lot of hip pain and we are looking for solutions for her. We decided to check out all the best pregnancy pillow for hip pain and chose.

Someone bought my one of these. Never could get to like it. I use normal pillows. Recommend buying a few memory foam pillows from Argos. If you have hip pain put one between your knees and one between your ankles. And go see an osteopath. I had two treatments at 16-18 weeks and just that fixed it. I went from crutches to walking normally again. Worth every penny.
