after your BFp...
A) you allowed yourself to start getting excited
B) started planning things properly for when the lo arrives
C) started googling/ week by week progress
Or downloaded a pregnancy app

I'm 6 weeks and so far haven't allowed myself to get too excited yet as my dr told me that 1 in 5 first time pregnancies end in miscarriage which scared the hell out of me!!! I really want to start getting excited, making plans, seeing how my bean' is progressing but worried its too early so thought I would see what other mn'ers think & what you have all done ??
Thanks
( this is my first pregnancy so all new to me )

A) Didn't instantly as I had a bleed at 8 weeks, had an earl pregnancy scan which showed it was all ok, but then felt really paranoid until after 12 week scan, which was when we started to tell peopley
B) Wasn't until after 20 week scan that I even bought anything for the baby.
C) Get the NCT emails every week from after 12 week scan

Hi, I am on my first pregnancy too. I was so scared at first, too scared to let myself get excited, as we had been TTC for a long time. I did have some bleeding at 7 and 8 weeks which was terrifying and I was glad at that point I hadn't been buying things IYSWIM in case the worst happened, but thankfully everything was fine. Once we had the scan at 9 weeks showing all was fine, and we found out it was a polyp on the cervix that was causing the bleeding, I let myself start getting excited and went on a bit of a shopping spree, oops! I also bought a pregnancy journal from Amazon and started writing in that and DH bought me some gorgeous maternity toiletries and it started to feel a bit more real.

I bought the pregnancy books and downloaded an App pretty much as soon as I got the BFP though as I wanted to know what to expect and also what I should and shouldn't do in pregnancy. Now I am 13 weeks I google week by week progress on a weekly basis!

Good luck!

I've only just found out - 4 weeks just and tbh as soon as the shock wore off I started getting excited, its impossible not to! It sort of keeps hitting me in waves as the shock dies down and then I get excited all over again.

We have told both sets of parents already as it was just too weird to be speaking to them and not say anything! DP was keener to tell that I am, but its so nice to share your news... we'll tell two sets of DB and SILs too then won't say anything more until 12 weeks.

I've ordered a book for me and one for DP from Amazon as we know literally nothing (first timers too Smile ) and we've got a gynae appointment next week.

I'm not planning on buying anything or thinking about names until 20 weeks.

I DO feel nervy and have everything crossed that it goes ok - I don't think I'll be out of the woods until 12 weeks really but I'll just have to keep hoping for the best til then.

Even if the worst happened, I'd want my DP's and DPIL's support anyway so I didn't feel "wrong" in telling them.

Good luck and congratulations Grin

We have told my mum and My sister ( although My dp wasn't keen to just yet but I hated lying to the 2 people closest to me).
It's funny as apart from feeling tired ( & having really sore boobs)I don't actually feel pregnant. I know I am ( from the 3 tests, and missed period etc) but it just doesn't feel real yet.

I think once I've been to my ' booking' in appointment and seen midwife ( I'll be 9 weeks then ) it will hopefully seem more real.

One other thing will I get my dating scan done at the booking appointment or will this be booked when I'm there for a few weeks later?
( had a nightmare at the drs as the receptionist was telling me ' congratulations ' etc and a girl I knew was standing in queue behind me & as I didn't want anyone to know I left VERY quickly so didn't have time for it to be explained properlySad
