Could this pain be SPD?? - Should I worry?

as it says really, i've noticed the last few days when i've got up for a pee that my hips are really killing on the side of them really aching. (to the point of where I'm waddaling/at least rocking from side to side when waslking) - imagion the pat butcher type walk! lol. anyhow i've also been having shooting pains going down my pelvic bone if I strech my legs down/occasionally when standing up - been having those on/off for about 8 weeks - but didn't mention to the m/w as I don't have them too often but i'm now thinking coupled with this other thing is it SPD? - seems to be particually worse at night - it's uncomfortable to sleep on my back - but now I can't manage the sides either as that really is painful.

what does it sound like- anyone else have it? - I'd be happy if it was general aches & Pains tbh esp if the baby's moving down (last check 1 week ago on my notes says 4/5 but m/w said I was only 1/5 engaged). going to see her again next week for the 38 week check.

Sounds like spd.

i had it with ds1 from 32wks
i had it with ds2 from 16wks, was on crutches
i am 8wks preg with baby3 and already aching!!!

ask your midwife as it can mean to stirrups (if needed) at the birth.

oh bloody hell. can it really come on this late? I was hoping someone would say it's aching cos i'm laying on my side and it's the consequence - althou my shoulders aren't aching (u know how they can if u stop on one said too long)

spd really feels like your whoel pelvis has 'dropped' its wierd and hurts to walk.

it's not quite that bad it feels like it's all dropped more like DH has been kicking me in the side of hte hips all night.

Definitely sounds like it.
i did'nt get with ds1 but had it very badly with ds2 from 16 wks (luckily he was borno 6 wks early and the pain went to lol).
Have a chat to your mw and you may be able to get a physio appt soon. At night, try sleeping with a pillow between your knees (eases it a tad), I also found as painful as it was, walking loosened everything up.
I'm 9 wks and starting to get twinges so looks like another dose for me.

munz, pregs going ok. v v achey and crampy but 8wks on sat, so fingers crossed its going ok.

i bought a long curved feeding pillow and slept with that between my legs (LOL!!!!) seemed to hepl my pelvis alot

thanks girls for the tips, thou i've noticed the aching stopped around 11.30am this morning and am now fine (have been sitting/waddaling about! lol) this is the main reason for not talkin to the m/w. but i'll def mention it to her next week.

mine lasted all day. perhaps its just as your muscles etc as your getting near your edd!

I'm 22 weeks and have been diagnosed with spd since 18 weeks. I'm signed off work, have to wear a support belt and i'm on crutches, the pains are very similar to what you're describing. To help you sleep try one of those curved pillows, i got one and it does help a bit.
I really sypmathise with you hun, not saying it is spd but either way not nice.

thanks for the tips girls, have been using a pillow for the last two nights and it's much better - no pain at all upon waking so I guess it was just aches/pains in the mucles. (thankfully)

I'm 18weeks and have been having spd pain since about 12 weeks although this last week it has been agony - walking (even a little) is painful and it seems worse if I do too much or if I've been sitting for a long time. Lottielou was it a physio or gp who recommended crutches?

Munz - how did you get on? Your symptoms are very similar to mine. I thought at the end of last week that I had pulled a tummy muscle. I couldn't move all day and struggled on all fours up the stairs. It has almost vansihed now. A friend of mine at work has suggested it might be SPD. I am not sure, but I do get a very similar pain in my hips at night and sometimes when I try to turn over I get shotting pains in my pubic bone. I am already sleeping with a pillow between my legs. I had the same pain in my first pregnancy but didn't really do anything about it. After DS was born - I had cranial osteopathy treatment which was FNATASTIC. Still not sure that I had or have currently got SPD - so I would be interested to hear what you MW said.
