... because it would be really inconvenient, I'm 29 weeks and want to go abroad for 2 weeks first, starting this weekend!! Grin

It is not a lot, just a bit of clear liquid, which gave me a shock as it took ages for milk to come last time!! Does this baby not realise that i need a holiday before he arrives!!!

Ha! I did and went 7 and then 11 days over with my two!

PickleSarnie · 16/04/2012 14:49

Mine leaked last time from before I was 30 weeks. DS arrived at 40+1.

McPopcornMouseNFries · 16/04/2012 14:51

You can leak before giving birth? Shock

TruthSweet · 16/04/2012 15:01

I made colostrum from wk 24 with DD2's pg (though I didn't leak as DD1 was bfing so there was never any left to leakWink) and she was born 39w 5d. Made colostrum from wk 26 with DD3's pg (again no leakage as both DD1 & DD2 were bfing) again with baby being born at 39w 5d (both spontaneous 'natural' deliveries).

Making colostrum isn't driven by the baby being ready to be born (luckily!) but by the rising progesterone levels during pg and is part of what's called lactogenesis stage I (stage II is triggered by the delivery of the placenta and takes about 3-5 days to complete - also known as 'milk coming in').

MissPenteuth · 16/04/2012 15:05

I had leakage at about 26w (not major, just little stains on my pyjama top). DD was born at 40+2.

Don't worry :)

Longdistance · 16/04/2012 15:05

My breasts started 2 leak at wk 4, and that was the sign I was pg. She only arrived 2 days early lol!

TeWihara · 16/04/2012 15:34

Definately not! I was leaking for months with 4 day late DD. No leakage at all with 3 days early DS.

notso · 16/04/2012 15:38

Don't worry, mine leaked from about 30 weeks first time round and DD was born on her due date.
However they didn't stop leaking until I got pregnant with DS three years later, and I only breast fed her for just under 7 months!

GlaikitFizzog · 16/04/2012 15:40

I leaked from 25 weeks, ds was born by CS after failed induction at 42 weeks. Fear not!!

MeeWhoo · 16/04/2012 15:42

I was leaking by 5 months pregnant, ds born at 40+6.
Longdistance, that was early! (the leakage not the birthWink)

Chunkychicken · 16/04/2012 16:28

Would agree that it means nothing. I started leaking at about 24wks with DD & she was born at 39+3. I asked the MW about the leaking at the time & she just said 'some people leak, some earlier than others...'. Fear not :)

monkeypuzzeltree · 16/04/2012 20:30

Thank you very much ladies, much reassured! Hopefully DS will stick to the agreed plan of me having a holiday and some time to sit down, well run after DD before he makes his arrival!! I'll be back on this in 10 weeks whinging about being overdue Grin !!

I leaked from about 20 weeks with DS, and I had him at 40+12 after being induced!

monkeypuzzeltree · 16/04/2012 20:35

40+12 !!! Good grief, that must have been tough. I was 40 +8 with DD and that was my limit!

OP posts:
whenskiesaregrey · 16/04/2012 20:51

I was pretty fed up by that point!

melliebobs · 16/04/2012 20:56

I leake colostrum from 30 wks. Dd arrived at 40+17!!

monkeypuzzeltree · 16/04/2012 21:43

40 +17 - i didn't even know they let you go that far!! I'll be having an elephant if i go that far, let alone looking like one! I'll be staging a sit in, in the delivery ward!

Course they will Smile you don't have to do anything u don't want to Smile luckily I'd had a very easy low risk pregnancy and I'd done my reading so was quite confident (and stubborn) at argueing my point with health professionals!

monkeypuzzeltree · 16/04/2012 22:31

A very good point, I went into labour last time but i've always been concerned about induction, should i get to that point, I'll be remembering your words!

I could lierally squirt metres across the room from about 16 weeks although from what I understand this doesn't happen often that early but is still quite normal.
Once I squirted one out of curiosity and hit dp's laptop screen while he was working on it, needless to say he got a surprise. :o
