I know it's trivial but I wondered....when you were up the duff with number 2 when did you start to look pregnant? People keep saying that you pop out sooner....

Waist (what there was of it) went immediately. Did get fatter sooner. But got thinner again MUCH sooner as well, if that's a consolation!

I'm out of the country for a month and I'm trying to figure out what to pack - I want to travel light

I'm 16 weeks and I'm not showing yet. My waist has gone though and I think from certain angles I look a bit podgy but I don't look pregnant. I'm still fitting into my jeans and my work trousers once they get too tight I'll know that it won't be long before I'm showing. I didn't show with my dd until I was about 19/20 weeks and so far this pregnancy seems to be going the same way.

Beccarollo · 27/11/2003 21:19

I got fatter sooner and bigger than 1st preg but like motherinferior got thinner much sooner too

moosh · 28/11/2003 08:07

I did start to look pregnant much sooner this time round. With ds1 who is now 3yrs 10 months I didn't show till I was about 6.2months but with this little monster I began to show at about 4 months SCARYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!
With the size I am now, I looked this big when I was about 7 and half months I am about a month larger. oh yes, and my face seems bigger, even SCARRRRIEERRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!

codswallop · 28/11/2003 08:07

5 months

Bekki · 28/11/2003 08:16

Same here. My waist went almost straight away with my second and I just looked fat. I'm losing the weight alot quicker than with ds1 though.

pupuce · 28/11/2003 08:21

Welshmum you do unless you had a very tight tuimmy after number 1!
At the end of pregnancy you will look roughly the same

LucieB · 28/11/2003 09:25

I didn't pop out any sooner, in fact this time, have gained weight a lot more slowly and haven't really felt much hungrier. I had a boy last time and this time am having a girl, with an 18 month age gap. Started to show properly at around 20-22 weeks although lost my weight and boobs grew before that time.
So much depends on your own physiology, I reckon.

vivat · 28/11/2003 11:15

Now 17 weeks and not really showing (although i can't fit into any of my sports bras, although normal ones ok for some reason). I'm sure I showed earlier than this last time. Must be my very tight tummy (thanks Pupuce !)

SenoraPostrophe · 28/11/2003 11:56

Yup, I looked pg much sooner this time!

I think it's because my tummy muscles put up less of a fight this time: maybe it's different if you're really fit, or if you have a largish gap (gap between mine will be 20 months or so)

The good news is, I have no new stretch marks!

morocco · 28/11/2003 13:02

and weirdly my stomach is a different shape every day!
baby gymnastics must be going on in all that 'stretchy tummy'

Welshmum · 28/11/2003 16:24

I guess I got the answers I knew I would - we're all different. Still, it's always fun to compare notes with the other mumsnetters. My problem is that I lost 2 stone (eventually) after DD arrived - on a really strict diet. Now I'm pg again it's a great excuse to eat loads. Consequently I don't think I'll be popping out so much as expanding in all directions......sigh....rice cakes are so horrible but I know I'll be eating them again in a year's time.

Yes I have! I'm 20 weeks pregnant with second child and definitely got a bump a lot quicker. Good thing cos it hides all the flab from the first one (who's 13 months).

tinyfeet · 01/12/2003 15:07

I popped out at about 4.5 months, but I was carrying an extra 10 pounds that I never lost after DD1.

handlemecarefully · 01/12/2003 15:21

Circa 18 weeks - although 'bump' is generously covered with a layer of flab.
