Never been one to suffer from this. Early on in pg, some tension headaches but had two migraines in last few days. Just been reading and it seems caffeine (incl. chocolate) can cause them. Think that might be it as just been finishing off Easter eggs - gutted :(

Just wondering if anyone else out there and how you've kept them at bay.

TIA

It may be having a word with your midwife. Most of the time its nothing but a head ache but sometimes in pregnancy they can be warning signals for other things. I know my green notes say somewhere that you should seek advice if you're suffering severe headaches.

If they haven't gone soon I'd give midwife a ring but probably worth letting all that lovely chocolate clear your system first - hope you enjoyed it .

Make sure you have plenty of fluid, fresh air and remember you can take paracetomol to help

I've had a horrid headache for 2 days now. I'm 10.5 weeks, with twins. I am trying to get lots of sleep and drink lots of water. I tried taking paracetamol a couple of weeks ago for a similar one, but I threw it up straight away, so I am steering clear. Hope yours shifts soon.

Keep your fluids and food intake up.

But if it persists just speak to your mw.

Last time I was pg I had a constant headache for three weeks. Paracetamol took the edge off but never got rid of it. And it wasn't a migraine as I get them occasionally.

After a week I saw my mw and my blood pressure was high. It's always super low for me in pg. for some reason it was high and my head didn't like it!

As soon as my blood pressure dropped the headaches disappeared.

I'm on my second pregnancy and have been getting headaches fairly frequently - maybe once a week. They can hang around for 2-3 days or disperse after a night's sleep, which makes me think of them as mini-migraines (I used to get those pre-pregnancies). Never had any headaches/migraines with 1st pregnancy though.

My preferred treatment is to see if a night's sleep (with hot-water bottle firmly attached to my head) does the trick. If not, then 2 paracetamol+caffeine in the morning well after I have had my breakfast. This tends to work (but does mean I can't have my lovely morning and evening cups of tea due to the accumulation of caffeine).

I'm hoping this works for me again tonight as I've got a headache now!!

In my first pg I had a headache for frigging weeks, it was horrid, the pain increased whenever I bent over or exerted myself, omg the pain when I was sick was atrocious, my head would boom boom boom like it was about to explode and I used to sit by the toilet banging my head against the wall Hmm to relieve the pain. The dr's were so not interested, it must have been bp related looking back.

It did go at about 16 weeks though thank god, paracetamol would take the edge off, but obviously I felt bad using it constantly.

I had daily headaches during my first trimester (they're just dropping off at 15 weeks) - it was mostly hormonal I think, but how much I drank also affected them. If you're later on in pregnancy, please speak to your MW though - it can be symptomatic of pre-eclampsia.
