If I'm ill is it likely to delay labour?

I felt rubbish yesterday, was awake alot of last night and I have a headache and sinusitis today. Now my nose is streaming.
I'm almost 39 weeks pregnant and I'm worried that it'll put my body off going into labour.
Is this true or am I just making it up?

I know this is not what you want to hear but I ended up being 12 days overdue and I think it was due to being ill. I had really bad sinusitis, headache etc plus I was being sick. Wasn't until the antibiotics kicked in and I started feeling a little better did DD2 decide to make her appearance 2 weeks ago.

I was like breathe the gas and air twice then stop to have a sniffle in labour

Not necessarily MrsD. IIRC Aloha went into labour whilst ill with the flu. I went into labour the morning after being up all night with d and v (food poisoning).

It was you I was thinking of sweetkitty!
I'm hurting now but can't work out if it's labour or farts?
Sinuses are bloking up at the same time, it's that point in the evening.

I had an awful cold with dd2 and went into labour naturally during it. Just make sure you get lots of sleep/rest, I felt dreadful afterwards just because I think my body was so drained with the cold and then a 10 hour labour on top of that, and then when I came out an 18 month old to also look after.

A friend of mine was had flu and was due her 2nd. She was panicking about going into labour with full on flu but her midwife told her that her body would not let that happen. And sure enough, as soon as she began to feel better she went into labour - 10 days late. The same happened to my mum when she had me. But who knows! could just be coincidence I suppose.

MrsD - you still have a week to make it to your due date and for your sinusitis to clear up, I was in a way relieved not to go into labour when I felt really bad as I didn't have the energy for it. Give yourself a few days rest and then get ready to meet your new baby, best of luck.
