Hiya,

This is a bit of a funny one but I am 16 weeks and have a bump I think. I had a bit of a pot belly before but it has definitely changed shape!! Anyway, I expected it to be rock hard but its not at all! I'm intrigued as to whether I've got it wrong or I'm not showing as much as I thought I was. Its one of those over the top hormonal worries thats getting to me!!

Thank yoU!!

8aby, can't offer much apart from I'm in the same boat (am 15 weeks tho) and also can't tell if I have a bump or not, mainly due to generally having a bit of fat round my stomach and bloating due to IBS.

I'm 17 weeks, I've def got a bump but it's not rock hard. Its def a bit harder than rest of belly, I can feel it, but not much different to normal bell iyswim

13 weeks and a massive bump! It's not hard but it's not flab either - it starts from about 2 inches inwards from either side of my hips, is very pert, swells upwards from my pubic bone and my upper abdomen is still pretty much the same shape.

I thought the same, as the baby grows my bump would be hard but never found that to br true, i had a belly before too, now im 30 weeks my belly is harder so maybe its just the baby growing in a confined space that makes it feel harder, the bigger it gets??

Bunsouttheoven · 14/04/2012 18:02

It gets harder as the baby gets bigger, by the end it is like a boulderGrin

tara0202 · 14/04/2012 18:09

In my case it started off soft and the further on I got and the bigger and more pronounced the bump - the harder it got. I am 37 weeks now and it is rock hard and very uncomfortable!

babygsmummy · 14/04/2012 18:14

Don't panic :) Your bump won't feel rock hard because the baby is floating in a bag of water essentially.
As your bump gets bigger it might feel hard at times - I'm 38 weeks and unless I'm having a Braxton Hicks practice contraction my bump doesn't feel hard - but if I press on it, I can feel bits of the baby. Mostly it's big arse which is always sticking out the right hand side!!

Enjoy it while you can, while it is never totally hard, apart from b-hicks there are plenty of times when a hard foot or bottom is sticking out ... your time will come. At 29 weeks with second child, I can't believe how tight and big it feels already!
